LOCAL TALK< back to topic list >
Well, the fiance thinks we have to have the reception at a hotel, which is fine, but the prices... ouch. We have found one, the University Quality Inn, that doesn't have catering so you cater out your own food, and save tons of money. Anyone know another hotel like this??

We had ours at the Lexington Lansing over on Creyts road (used to be the Sheraton). It's beautiful. We didn't do one of their packages. For 3 of their ballrooms (which holds about 250) it's $6000. If you spend $6000 in food there is no cost. linens and everything are provided and their food is AWESOME! We had around 180, did a cocktail hour, and just barely made the $6000 mark. So, everything is very reasonably priced. The people working there are fantastic and more than willing to please.
I should also note that we had a buffet and did not skimp on the food. We had Prime Rib and Foccacia Chicken as well as roasted potatoes and mixed veggies on the buffet, plus a plated salad. They also offer meals for children under 12. We fed the children all plated chicken fingers and french fries and they got a fruit cup instead of the salad. I think parents really liked that their kids started eating so that they could run up to the buffet.
So, I just wanted to point out that we chose the most expensive items, and still were barely able to make the $6000 minimum. We loved it there. We plan to go back each year or so for our honeymoon.
great, im going to give them a call tomorrow. was your room included?
our hotel room for the night? no it was not included, but we did do a room block and rooms were only $99/night (pretty good for a fancy hotel I think). They do offer packages that have the hotel room included though if you're interested in that.
Plus, their rec room is open 24 hours a day (pool, basketball, fitness, air hockey, etc). We did stay on the signature level to be away from the rest of our room block which was like $15 more a night I think, but it was totally worth it. Their Sunday buffet is also to die for! We reserved the Aurora room (behind Christies Bistro) for free b/c we had our wedding there the night before. Our family came and had brunch with us as we opened our gifts.
that sounds great! thanks so much, i will definitely be calling!
You can tell them I referred you. I worked with Tara Hart and Krystal Parrott. They were both fantastic! Our wedding was on June 19th, 2010. They'll know who I am.
