I am doing cookie plates brought to each table. Each plate is a mixture of 5 varieties of shortbread- cocoa, lavender, cranberry, pistachio, and lemon poppy seed. I have a menu on each plate that has the name of each flavor written in a pen color to match, so cocoa is written in brown, lavender is written in purple (there is a small purple icing decoration on top of the lavender), cranberry in a red color, pistachio written in green, and lemon poppy seed written in yellow (with a little yellow icing on the cookie). I bought really pretty decorated cardboard cards from a specialty shop in Shadyside for menu cards, and my sister wrote the wording in a pretty script.
I am from Ohio, so I wasn't totally sold on the table idea. Also, I bake so I wanted to put a personal touch on the reception without baking my own wedding cake! The plates look really elegant, which I wanted for my formal reception.
