We displayed our cookies on two tables in the corner of our room by the dance floor. The table had a standard tablecloth with a lace skirt and we added our own touches -- gold netting, candles, and silver snowflakes (we had a winter wedding). We had the option of paying our reception location to try the cookies for us for a charge but we decided to do it ourselves. I bought some trays from the dollar store (if you want them, contact me and we can talk!) and we loaded the cookies up the day before the wedding! It was really easy and painless. The venue (Radisson in Greentree) did give us the three-tiered gold displays to use for height.
I thought the table turned out beautifully and almost all of our cookies got taken which is a feat in itself considering we had over 1,000 cookies for only about 80 guests! LOL.
As for WHAT types we had, my parents baked most of them, and they love "fancy" cookies. So we had:
Apricot tortes, nut roll, cranberry orange, chocolate crackle, mini cheesecakes, biscotti (two types, almond and chocolate), and something similar (but not *quite* the same) to Italian wedding cookies. YUM! Some of our guests surprised us by bringing pitzelles (sp?) and other cookies but I can't remember what else they brought. I think they were pleasantly surprised that there was italian grocer directly across the street from our church. :-)
Best of luck!
thanks so much will get back to you when time is closer and tray idea from dollar store is great idea!!
I am interested in your cookie trays and let me know so we can talk about them with more detail. How many do you have?
would be very interested in purchasing your cookie trays--how many do you have?
wedding was just last week so very fresh in my mind. As afar as types of cookies....it would be easier to say what we didnt have. we had every type imaginable.
how ours were displayed. They were trayed on several dollar store trays. the long tables (2) were covered with fancy linens, vases, greenery intertwining (dollar store ivy). the cookie trays were mixed in with the appetizer trays on these tables.... cheeses & pepperoni, crackers, veggie trays etc.
we had a cpl boxes underneath the tablecloth to raise some of the trays up a little bit.
Hi blulady, sorry it took me so long to get back -- I'm a grad student and super busy and I just got around to counting the trays. It looks like we have about 27 (total) rectangular, circular, and oval nickel-plated trays and two larger "crystal" plastic trays. They shaped trays are these ones:

Obviously I paid a dollar each for them, I would be willing to part with everything for $20. Let me know if you are interested or want to make a deal. :-)
I understand how busy a wedding and grad studies are! I am very willing to buy them for $20. You can decide how I can send you the money (money order?) and how I can get the trays. Many many thanks and hope to hear from you when you can. You can decide all the details to your convenience.
Hi blulady, where are you located? Maybe you could meet me somewhere and we could exchange. :-) I'm in Bloomfield but I do have a car so could meet you elsewhere...
I live near the North Hills--about 10 minutes from West View Plaza. I'm not familiar with Bloomfield but I will gladly met you somewhere we both can find. I know this is a busy weekend and it doesn't have to be this weekend unless that's best for you. anytime is good for me Are you familiar with the North Hills?
Okay wow, I really slacked off there. I can meet you somewhere in the North Hills -- I shop in the McKnight road area a fair amount and need to go out there to pay my Kohl's bill anyway... want to meet somewhere out there or am I too late?
