I think this is going to be pretty tough to do in Brooklyn. Spaces that fit 150 people sitting and eating are minimal and they don't come cheap.

I think you could find a space with food for $50 pp (buffet or heavy passed appetizers but not sit down dinner) but it won't include tables/chairs/etc.

I opted for the ease of a restaurant so i wouldn't have to worry about all of those rentals but the "cheap" ones I found all hovered around 100pp

Personally the experience of a sit-down dinner was very important to me and to the feel of my wedding. All of my happy memories with friends and family are around a table with good food. In order to get that we cut down our guest list so we could throw the party we wanted.

Everyone is different in what they want. The best thing is to pick your top two most important things and spend your money on and stick to it. I picked one - food and he picked one - pictures.

Fun, Funky, and Affordable are all doable at a place called "Bubby's" on Main Street in the DUMBO area. I'm an event photographer and have gone to weddings and Sweet 16s there, and everyone has a ball. Completely laid back, unpretentious, really good "comfort" food, lots of seating on main level and upstairs, good space for dancing.

Did I mention fantastic waterfront views of the Downtown Manhattan Skyline?

I highly recommend you give them a call.

Bubby's is really expensive and has bad sightlines for a wedding. I am doing mine at Water Street Restaurant in DUMBO in a few weeks. It is reasonably priced and the staff there are fantastic. I highly suggest giving them a call. Big fun funky space, they have and they even provide candles for table settings. With a wedding your size, you might try doing dinner upstairs and then having the dance party downstairs or doing a grazing/buffet style dinner rather than sit down.

Here are some lofts/art spaces in Brooklyn/LIC area. The Foundry is in LIC and the space is amazing. My friend had her wedding there for under a strict budget. They do provide tables/chairs, but you have to find caterers and decor for the space. The Foundry works with a rental place next door where you can get plants and furniture if needed.

For $50/person, you most likely will have to do a lunch or cocktail hour, perhaps also be flexible for a Thursday, Friday or Sunday since those days are less popular. Hope this helps! Good luck and congratulations!!

It was OUTSTANDING. The space was fun. The staff was wonderful. The food was only so-so (my fault, bad choice), but I recommend the place HIGHLY!!!
