How did you schedule pick up locations for shuttle service to the reception? Thanks

I basically set around 8-10 places around chatham with various price points for people to stay. Most people chose to stay at the pleasant bay village since it was kid friendly....other places were the chatham highlander, chatham seafarer, Old Harbor Inn, Captains House and various rental houses around north chatham. Once everyone responded that they were attending...I kept track of where everyone was staying and included a trolley schedule in their welcome bags on where and when they could be picked up. I used trolley's by tess which made it really easy. Tess was familiar with the area and there was little I had to do...she kept track of who she picked up and who was missing.

Let me know if you have any questions.

We have hired a bus thru Cape Destinations and the trolley for the wedding party. Did you have the trolley pk up people at their hotels or did you have a different central location where people could be picked up? Thanks

The trolley picked up at each hotel...but we had only 75 people to pick up so it was easier. Anything more than that and it will be difficult for the bus/trolley to get around. Will you be in chatham or somewhere else on the cape? If you do pick up at each spot...again...try to limit where people are staying or at least have the pick up spots where the bulk people are.

I used Cape Destinations also. I found out where people were staying and mapped out a route (some people had to take a short walk to get to a more centrally located hotel). I used wedding mapper to calculate the times between stops and overestimated slightly, then created a bus schedule that I posted on my wedding website.

We just used the bus for pickup and return after the reception for an after-party, but same idea.

This is great info. I am just starting this process for my wedding in Orleans. I am limiting to 3 - 4 places within a few miles of the church and reception. I will check out Trolley's by Tess.

Great to hear and congratulations. My wife and I found in the cape especially...having the ceremony and reception close together allowed people to get to the bar quicker. DWI is not tolerated in anyway out there....so instead of having to tell our out of town guests to keep it under control...we really gave them no choice but to use our transportation. Plus we rented two huge houses in chatham and had Tess drop everyone off there after.

Good luck with everything and let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi there, sorry - I'm new to the board - can you explain how you got the hotel info for all of your guests? While I have blocked rooms at one or two places, I'm sure there will be guests staying elsewhere, and I'd like to try to pick them up in a trolley/bus as well. did you have your guests notify you somehow, or did you just call around to various hotels? thanks!

I asked people to tell me what hotel they were staying at if they wanted to use the bus service. I put that info on my wedding website, and left it up to them to tell me!

No worries....been through this before and more than willing to help. My wife and I put the hotel info on the the actual wedding invitation. Thought was if the guests had to pick their entrée...they would see they need to provide the hotel info and put it down or at least remember to go book it. In the end just about everyone filled it out and it was easy to track. If you havent sent your invitations yet....should think about doing it this way or on the save the date. You'll find that people will really only look at your registry sites and glaze over everything else.

In terms of hotels, we suggested around 10 in the area that people could stay at....then when planning the trolley pick up schedule and route...I just picked common locations that people could easily get to.

One tip to follow on a schedule....have the trolley make two trips around. Most of the female attendees missed the first pickup because they were not ready in time.

In the end you can only do so much...its up to people to get themselves there. Dont stress over it.

Hi Patrick-
I was just wondering where and how did you find large houses to rent in Chatham. Me and my fiance are planning on getting married in Chatham and are really concerned as to where everyone can stay. We would love to have the majority of our guests in the same area. We were just curious...

Thanks and congrats on your wedding!
