I'm getting married this year in august and the ways I cut down on cost is 1. Do-It-Yourself invitations and save the dates. If you look on line there's a lot of wedding websites that offer free templates for wedding invitations and many are beautiful. 2. Look up parks & recreations in your city for your reception, many have community centers that they rent out for 250 or less and also parks for 50 or less depending on if you live in the area or not. Even though Im not done planning between the venues and the save dates so far I have spent 300 not including my dress since my fiancee mother bought my dress. Hope this helps you a little and congrats on your engagement!
We are having our reception at The Bungalow Club. It is one price for venue, food, drinks, service and it's a restaurant so NO rentals. They also hold ceremonies for free. It is coming out much cheaper than any of the other LA venues we liked!
My husband and I were on a very tight budget too. We ended up getting married on the beach...for FREE!!! We used Ocean Blue Photography and Design for our photos. They are great! I would recommend them if you care about quality but don't have a lot of money.
