We're getting married in Germany and USA for both families so we are forced to split the costs in half. We're trying to find a cheap but nice venue and hire a caterer. I am so far shocked about the prices of offered wedding packages at reception venue places. Can anybody help us? Thanks in advance!
Perhaps I can help you! For the US are you looking for the Houston area? If so, I have a catering company that I've had for several years but due to relocation haven't done a lot with it and am starting to get back with it full-time. I know of many great venues around town and have found that many of the best to keep prices to a minimum with out giving up what you really want is the locations which let you bring in your own people, etc. So many have their "preferred" companies to deal with therefore those companies know they can really hit you hard with overhead charges. The last wedding I did was actually my daughter's, if you're interested let me know and I can send you some pictures. I would love to help you to make your day special and this would also help me get back into the market. Wedding venues in small towns tend to be less expensive than in large cities. I know a couple who recently married at Ashlynn Manor (sp?) in Magnolia (about 45 miles north of Houston). They were on a tight budget because their parents weren't paying for the wedding and they were happy with the venue. You should consider checking venues that are outside the city limits in smaller towns. Just a thought. Good luck!
Not sure what area you would like, but we spent about 7000 for the hall we rented and it was called Imperial Hall and it's off of Parker and 59. It's not the greatest area but the hall itself is quite nice!
Congratulations!! My daughter's wedding was a very budget conscious wedding and we found a location that let us bring in our own caterer and the facility was quite nice and in a good area on the west side of Houston. The name of it was Chateau Crystale. If I remember correctly, their cost was about $2100-2200 with 10 tables plus a head table and bride and groom table set up. This also included two bartenders and two servers to help with the tables and champagne toast. They had a restaurant cater the food and it was kept at below $1,000 for about 110 people. My brother and sister-in-law just opened up a venue called the Bienville Social. It is located a block away from the strand and it is designed for smaller more intimate weddings, wedding receptions, and rehearsal dinners. It is very well priced and gorgeous!
