What part of Charleston will you be in? We break it down by downtown, east cooper (Mount Pleasant), west ashley, north charleston, folly, or one of the islands. Don't make the mistake of thinking that if you are having your wedding east of the cooper that staying on folly is a good idea. The town is not big but because we have very limited north-south roads, if there is an accident on a main road, traffic stops. So stay close by to the wedding event site. Here in Mount Pleasant, all the big chains are exceptable with most of them clustered around the base of the Ravenel Bridge. Check with recent Holiday Inn reviews, they were the only one having problems with service and food last year. Hopefully they have improved. There is a new park under The Bridge that is fantastic and great if people need to entertain kids. It's very close ( within walking distance of adults) to the hotels clustered around the bridge. All of the hotels have only a certain number of rooms that they will hold for weddings and they get booked up pretty fast so make arrangements as soon as possible. Congratulations, have fun!
We used the Courtyard Marriott on Lockwood(See picture of our view) We loved the harbor view and pool area) and the Holiday Inn. It was not in the historic district but that made it more affordable. Our wedding was in July, 2009 and it was $139 /night then.Holiday Inn right there also on Savannah Hway was $129 but the rooms are really better for only 2 ppl and not families due to its round structure.do Not use the Comfort Inn on Bee Street. It was $109 but low budget and smoky smell although the rooms were clean and spacious. We cancelled that one.The Francis Marion Hotel on Calhoun gave us rooms at $149 but very nice and worth it.its a little more like Charleston. we had our reception there too. Awesome! Call Jessica Dorfman to block rooms with them.Hope this helps its hard to find inexpensive accomadations due to tourism there.
