Congrats Jennifer - I am also getting married in August!
We were originally going to do our outdoor photos in Reader Rock Garden but have since then had a family friend offer their landscaped yard. We are still doing some photos in Fish Creek Park, but there are a number of other parks in Calgary we had looked at. NE of the stampede grounds there are some old ruins that make great photos! We also looked at Confederation Park, Baker Park (may need to reserve this site through the City of Calgary website as a lot of people use this location), Riley Park, and a number of different parks downtown. Here is a link that should help you narrow down your search - http://www.cocnmp.com/parks/
I hope you get the photos of your dreams, sunshine and great weather!
We did our wedding photos at Heritage Park. There are TONS of great spots for unique photos there both inside and outside.
Good luck and enjoy!
Thanks Kelly! And congrats to you also! That parks map is exactly what I was looking for. I think we will scope some out this weekend! I was also confused about reserving parks...hopefully it's not costly..but I'll call the city and ask.
Malynda - Thanks for the suggestion of Heritage Park - that would make for some interesting (and fun)photos!
I will post what I go with :) I still have a few weeks yet too.
We were married in Calgary this past March. We had some photos done downtown on Stephen Avenue(9th ave between 3rd street and center street SW), Princes Island Park, crescent heights over looking downtown and the river, SAIT and a ball diamond :)(none of which we paid a fee to take pictures)
I hear the peace bridge from Kensington to downtown is beautiful and different.
Fort Calgary is nice and different too!
Where is your ceremony? How long do you have set aside for pictures?
Best of luck and if you need any help let me know
Ok so I think I'm leaning towards SAIT location/Confederation Park (mostly because it is NW)....otherwise I'd totally opt for Heritage Park!
Do you ladies have any suggestions for indoor locations? (as a backup plan if it rains?) I really wanted photos in Livingston Place (Office Tower downtown) it has a "living" wall with greenery up to the ceiling...super pretty, but unfortunately they refuse to allow photos due to "liability risks"?!?! So that was a FAIL. I'm also hesitant to use Devonian since it just opened, and will likely be chaotic.
Again, any suggestions are welcome. Thanks again!
I haven't been there, but have heard good things about The Lougheed House (downtown). I'll message you if I think of anything else! Crossing my fingers for good weather for you! :)
