Congrats on your engagement and upcoming wedding. Planning from from away is not easy for sure.
A local restaurant you might want to check out for a night before the wedding is Pattigeorge's http://pattigeorges.com/
I had dinner there a few weeks ago with one of my upcoming brides and it was great! It would definitely be a good place for a rehearsal dinner or night before the wedding soiree.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any more questions or need additional suggestions.
My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner in st Armans circle at a Spanish restaurant called Columbias. We also had our reception at Ophelia's on the bay in siesta key. We worked with the owner there who was wonderful. I'm sure she could accommodate you for appetizers. We had our reception on the outdoor patio. It was wonderful. You could contact longboat key club as they have banquet rooms or there is a restaurant on the water as soon as you turn into longboat key club that may accommodate you ( it's not associated with the resort). Longboat key club was where we were married Good luck. Feel free to let me know of any questions you have. Congratulations!!!
usmcdpd1 - those are all really great suggestions! Columbia is a great restaurant and so is Ophelia's on he Bay.
Nov2012Wedding, will you be coming down to FL at all before the wedding? A long weekend down in the area might be a good time to check out a few of the places and try them out to see which has the feel you are going for.
We got married in may 2009 on Longboat key. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Chart House. It was fantastic. They sectioned off the top area and we had amazing views of the water. Many of our guests said it was the best rehearsal dinner they had ever attended. We also looked at Marina Jack but it was already booked. Good luck!
We were married in 2009 on Longboat, and had all of our events between the Hilton and Sun 'n Sea next door. We rented a tent and hosted a bbq on Friday afternoon at Sun 'n Sea, then Saturday wedding at Sun 'n Sea followed by cocktails and reception at the Hilton, then Sunday brunch back in the tent at Sun 'n Sea. Everyone stayed at one of the two locations and could walk between events. Our families cooked Fri bbq; our brunch was catered by Zest of Sarasota, and they were fantastic and highly recommended! Have fun and good luck!
We got married Sept 2009 at the Longboat Key Beach Club & it was destination wedding as well.
We flew down 2 mo's prior to finalize alot of loose ends with different vendors & we looked at a few rest. for rehersal dinner.
I have a few great suggestions for you.
We got married Fri Sept 25 & we had family & friends flying in the entire week so we were going out all week.
We had gone to the Chart House for a reg. meal with a few ppl & it was really good, kinda pricey. They were booked for the back sitting area for rehersal dinner though. We also went to the Salty Dog twice. When we arrived & the day before the wedding with a big group & that was fun & very reasonable. Not fancy at all but, very relaxed atmosphere, sitting outside on the deck or open air area - very loungy. For the rehersal dinner, we went to Marina Jacks. They had sectioned off the entire back area & it is a beautiful view of Sarasota Bay. Anne was who I worked with, very nice ppl! The day after the wedding, we went to St Armonds Circle & had big group lunch at Cha Cha Coconuts. St Armonds has alot of GREAT restaurants too!!! Cha Cha Coconuts is a laid back rest. w/ food kinda like Chilis but, w/ a caribbean touch to it.
Good luck & w/b if you have any other quest.
Thanks everyone for all the great ideas! We're looking into them all at the moment!
