We want to have our wedding ceremony as close to the lake as possible, outdoor and for a reasonable price. We are paying for the wedding ourselves and are trying to figure out how much we will need to save for everything. We do not have a theme really but we will have BLue and White roses as our flowers and colors. I would like to know any feedback on outdoor venues as well as an estimated price. We were thinking of Glensheen as our ceremony site and lakeview castle for the reception however this is not set in stone and would gladdly take any advice or opinions on these locations as well as others. we are expecting around 300-400 guests. Thank you for any advice.

The castle is an awesome idea!!
Glensheen is VERY expensive-- I don't know the exact prices but I know a lot of friends who have had pictures or consults there and said it was very pricey.
Also, transportation/hotel is something to look into-- there isn't a whole lot of lodging up at the Castle, especially for 300-400 people... and it's a ways from the ceremony site if you use Glensheen.
It's smaller, but Leif Ericson Park is pretty, and right by the lake-- maybe a good ceremony spot? Also, it is another expensive spot, but Greysolon Ballroom has wonderful lake views, it's huge, and it's a gorgeous place. It's also connected to the Sheraton Hotel which would have tons of rooms available.

Yes we love the idea of the castle because my fiance is so into the renaissance era. And we figured there would not be enough rooms there to house as many guests as we are expecting I was planning on reserving a chunk of rooms at the edwater on london road. I also figured that Glensheen would be extremely expensive and most likely out of our price range but i thought i could try. (wishful thinking) lol. I LOVE Leif Ericson Park when I was younger we used to have church service over there on nice days (i grew up in Duluth and my parents moved up down to Princeton/Elk River area when I was in late elementry; I now live in St.Francis, mn.) However I can not do my wedding at the leif Erickson Park because my sister called that as her wedding spot when she was younger and still dreams of it being there (shes not engaged yet but i wont step on her toes and take her dream wedding location). I will def. check out Greysolon Ballroom. Thank you so much for all your help and advice. It has been so long since I have been to Duluth (at least 6 years maybe 7) and it is hard to remember all the beautiful outdoor venues. I had thought about the Enger Tower but even though it has a great view of the lake its too far away from the lake for my taste. If you think of anything else please feel free to let me know thank you again and Congrats on your wedding. I hope it was the perfect day for you. :)

We had our wedding at the Rose Gardens..It is Beautiful. The citie charges 200.00 for the spot. We exchange our vows under the pavilion if thats word and looks wright over the lake...I possibly think you could fit 300 to 400. We also Booked Blocked rooms at the best western in Superior, Wi. It was cheaper and you are only 10 min away. I Hope I could help, and congradulations!!!

Thank you, I love the price of the rose gardens/lief ericson park however I cant take my sisters wedding spot. She has claimed it as her since we were little. So I have to find something different. I was looking at lodges on the north shore north of duluth just for some ideas and to see what there was but most that I have found cant hold 300-400 guests which worries me. I thank you for your help and advice i am greatful to all and any advice or tips. :) and congratulations on your wedding.
