Hi All! We're planning on getting married on the beach in Anna Maria June 9, 2012. We are trying to find a beach house rental with a deck that will accomodate our small wedding (20-30 people). I'm finding most won't rent for a "party", but we are in our 40s, parents, and just wanting a small, simple backyard bbq. The majority of our guests are elderly. Wondering if anyone local or has experience being married there can offer us advice or tell of experiences being married there? I've noticed most people rented hotel rooms, then had their wedding on the beach at the resturaunt reception site. Would this be a relatively inexpensive option? Can you get married anywhere on the beach there? Do you need a permit for under 50 people? I'm also wondering is anyone has a referral for a local florist and bakery? So confused, any imput or information will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jewel

Hi,

We were married May 2010 on the beach and did zero hotel rooms :-). I didn't find the restaurant receptions to be reasonable compared to just renting a house. Talk to Liza with Sato Realty to find a place to suit your needs. We rented about ten houses from them and had a five day party between the houses, and the actual reception and ceremony was in the backyard and beach of one of the luxury homes.

I think you need a permit for anywhere on the beach except at private homes. I'd refer you to Sylvia's Flower Corner for the flowers and Matt&Dom's for the bakery--they are both awesome!!

Hope this helps!

My husband and I got married at the Sandbar in Oct., 2010. It was a destination wedding and only our families attended. The Sandbar did a GREAT job with the wedding and reception there. Having it on a weekday might be cheaper than on a Fri. or Sat. night.

We rented a house on the beach at the north end of AMI and had the rehearsal dinner there. Mr. Bones catered it which was great. There were only about 20 guests and after dinner we headed to the shoreline for pictures. After our guests headed home we enjoyed being in a house right on the gulf for our honeymoon.

THe Sandbar's website gives suggestions for photographers, florists, etc. Our wedding was wonderful, hope yours is too! ~ Lynn

Hi Jewel,

We just did a beautiful beach house wedding on Anna Maria Island on December 10th. It was a smaller group than yours, but the house was amazing and could easily accommodate a group of 20 to 30.

I just posted a link to their wedding pictures on our Facebook page: http://facebook.com/simpleweddings

Let us know if this is what you're looking for and we'd be happy to help!

Sincerely,
