My husband and I had our reception at The University Club of Nashville which is on Vanderbilt's campus and is a wonderful venue that is very reasonably priced. The staff will go above and beyond to make it a memorable event. Additionally, we are now both members of the Club (you don't have to be to have a reception there, but we just like it so much) and now I sit on the Board! You should definitely check it out--in my opinion, it is one of Nashville's best kept secrets. Their website is http://uclubnashville.org/. Also, if you want to schedule a visit, the best way to do so is to call directly at 615.322.8564. Hope that helps!
You may find a lot of places out of your price range. First you need to tell me how many people you are inviting. There are some great places you can go to, but I need to know your specifics. Guests, type of food, location (does it have to be downtown?, how far willing to go?, does it have to be considered "upscale"?) Alcohol?
I am a wedding planner and would be happy to help you.
Check out legends country club. We had our wedding under a pavilion there and the reception up in the club house. Pretty nice and all the food with cash bar around $5k.
We got married and had our reception at Opryland Hotel. It was a gorgeous setting, budget friendly and they can take care of anything you need. They treat you like royalty and it was first class all the way. You even get a huge suite that you/bridal party can get ready in that will also serve as your wedding night accomodations. There is also a spa on site that will pamper you/bridal party up with your hair, makeup, nails, massage...I would look into it and can give you contact info if you like. Happy hunting!!
Our reception was at Gordon Jewish Community Center and our wedding budget was the same as yours. It was about $2,000 to rent the space and we could bring in our own caterer. Also, if you're looking for a really affordable wedding band, check out "Tasty Face" on facebook! They are awesome and not too expensive either!
Depending on the size of your guest list Watermark Restaurant in the Gulch area is a great option. They have rooms or you can buyout the restaurant (cheaper during the day). We had our reception there in May and the food and service was excellent! Good luck!
Houston Station is a great venue and it could accompany up to 250 people for a ceremony and reception!!!
We had our reception at Rumours East Wine Bar in East Nashville, but I think it was over your $5,000 budget. That, however, would change depending on your food/wine needs (we had lots of wine and 150 guests). It has been renovated since our reception and I can't speak to the new look since we don't live in Nashville, but it provided a great indoor/outdoor space with amazing food and wine. We provided our own beer and purchased wine wholesale through the restaurant. It was also such a unique setting that not much money was spent on decorations. A small bluegrass band was fantastic and only $400. Oh, and they have definitely done weddings + receptions.
We also had our 20yr high school anniversary at Rumours East and it is a wonderful venue with great food. Unfortunately, Rumours East recently announced they would be closing in February. There is a community effort to keep it open as the restaurant is an asset to the neighborhood.
Rumours East is NOT closing. It's Rumours 12South that is closing.
