I booked the st Louis for a wedding this coming April. After searching high and low for a French quarter location that could accommodate 180 ppl at under 20000 for a spring Saturday night. And have it outside.the best part about the st Louis is that even if it rains there is a three story awning that the can immediately pull over the entire courtyard so it still feels like youre outside. The have an 8000 minimum for a daytime wedding if you're good with daytime. Also kids under 13 are free and under 21 is half price. Hopefully this helps! Tracy at the st Louis is also very very good about answering any and all questions u may have- I'll let u know how it all goes in April!!

Thank you! Yes, that info is helpful! I really love the courtyard, etc at Louis XVI but when I looked at the contract, I was a bit disappointed with the abundance of "taxes!" I am beginning to look into other courtyards to compare prices. I really like the inclement weather plan and the option to have fans outside, plus, it is gorgeous!! I will probably book with Louis XVI but don't want them as my only option. My wedding will be next May, on a Saturday night as well.

Are you using a band? If so, who did you decide on?

A few other hotels that were at the top of our list for courtyards were: The Omni Royal, Brussards, and The Maison Dupuy. Ill tell ya, the taxes are out of control at all of them. In doing some research I found tax to be the same everywhere- 9.7%, but the gratuity anywhere from 20-25%. I checked my file and found that saturday night in spring at the maison dupuy was JUST under 20K. brussards was nice too but their open bar" option was really a cash bar that the bride and groom pay for which scared me bc our friends are drinkers. BIG drinkers. I looked at the Omni but didnt feel it was traditional new orleans enough. so alas, at $17,650 for everything reception wise we get an open bar, and plenty of space and that traditional new orleans feel. I would def contact the Maison Dupuy and Brussards though to look into your price specifically. Most places I found to have a food and beverage minimum before tax and grat. So the "per person" is a worthless number. basically on a sat night whether you have 80 or 180 you still pay the minimum price, its just your food options change. There are a bunch of smaller courtyards of course, I'd suggest getting an idea of a guest estimate and then going from there. the W is also beautiful for small groups.

as for music, because we're on such a tight budget we went with a dj - Crescent City Dj. they were affordable and had good reviews online plus an online list thing you can update for songs to play and those NOT to play. ie: the chicken dance. :) unless you like the chicken dance in which case add it to the MUST play ;)
I contacted two bands that played a few weddings I had been to in the city and they were around 3-5k.

We may have a 2nd line band to see us out after the reception and parade around the quarter, havnt decided as of yet, well see whats in the budget. that way we'll have a little taste of live music for an hour or so.

are you doing the ceremony at the st louis also?

Sorry, I am not sure how this happened, but I just saw this message!! Your wedding is soon! I ended up booking at St Louis Hotel - "Hotel Mazarin." I have been a bit disappointed (to say the least) with the abundance of changes taking place but overall, I am happy with my decision as far as the location goes. No, we are not having our ceremony there. We are getting married at St Mary's Church on Chartres street. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I will be a month behind you!
