This is my first wedding. I'm really excited about it but I'm having trouble finding a vendor with a reasonable price. I would like the wedding to be held June 2012 and I have just started planning. I really need help.

What professional services are you looking for, and what is the date? Usually Saturdays book up very early or they are more expensive then Friday or Sunday because of the demand. Sometimes shifting that can save you hundreds of dollars (or even thousands). Have you checked out my website for Photography? It's listed here on WeddingMapper and you can find in the Photographers. My site is About The Day and I have all my prices listed for your convenience. (Also, you can call me if there is something you are looking for that I don't list.) Hopefully that helps a bit!?

Check out Amber Springs off of 2854 in Conroe. You can have your wedding AND reception at that location. The price is very good and you have the place for the whole day- 8am to 12 pm . They have a beautiful place outside for the ceremony as well as inside. I did the flowers for a wedding there in January and was sooo impressed when the Bride's mom
told me about the price!

In addition to the place being a good price you can control the catering aspects of it by bringing in whoever you want to do the food. In researching for a family wedding, I found Zio's on I-45 to have great prices for Italian Food and they can set up and serve the food.

My daughter got married about 3 years ago in Houston and it was definitely a budget wedding. We did lot's of investigating and research and the wedding turned out very beautifully. The ceremony was held at Hermann Park at the Cancer Survivor's Memorial. There is a very nice gazebo and circular area which is surrounded by tress and shrubs and is across from the Mecom Fountain. This site is not way inside the park so there wasn't any interference from parkgoers.

The reception was held at Chateau Crystale and they were actually a bit more reasonable than many of the places we looked into. At the time, they did not require us to use their catering so we were able to save some money by using a lower-cost restaurant. The only drawback was that we were not able to use their kitchen facilities since we did not use their catering, but everything worked out just fine. They did not have a liquor license at the time so we were allowed to bring in our own alcohol.

Some of the other ways she saved money was on the officiant and the music. She asked a good friend of hers to perform the ceremony. He was not licensed and as it turns out almost anyone can be licensed for about $50. He did a fantastic job! Her best friend's (and maid of honor) brother was the DJ. She planned all of the music in advance and had it all recorded in the exact order she wanted everything so he brought his equipment and played her CD's. He made a few small announcements here and there also.

There were other things that we did, like making our own invitations, and if you would like some more information just let me know.

What do you consider reasonable? I've been searching around too, and I have found some decent venues for a good price. What is your price range, if you don't mind me asking?

Venue pricing really depends on what the venue is including in the price. Usually hotel venues only require you to meet a food and beverage minimun and the banquet room is free, plus you usually get a honeymoon suite for the night and some even offer you a one year suite too! Other venues, like banquet halls in shopping centers, are fairly reasonable priced, but that is because they are only including room fee, linens, and sometimes centerpieces. If you look into an all inclusive wedding venue, like Ashton Gardens (which is a beautiful wood-z type venue), you are looking at $10-$20k, but mind you, that is all inclusive!

They say the average Houston wedding costs $15k, but the average weddings I have done, are under $10k because I know the venues and vendors that give you the same quality as everyone else, but for a WAY lower price...(i.e. a typical wedding DJ will cost over $1k for four hours, my guy starts at $340 for four hours!) If you have any more questions tim.tor2014, please e-mail me emily@somethingblueevents.net or call/text me at 713.885.7410

P.S. You will want to start planning your wedding a year to date. Start shopping around and get a feel for what you want, but remember, your wedding is Jan 2014 so your mind will change as the trends will change.

Here are a few helpful hints:
1. set a budget
2. pick a date and book the venue as soon as you can (within a year or two prior to your date, depending on if it is a popular date or not).
3. your wedding dress may take up to five months to be made, and bridesmaids dresses may take up to three months. If you go into a gown shop expect to pay in full up front if you want a brand new dress. If you go into David's Bridal and want to put your dress on layway, you get the dress off the rack.
4. stick with your budget that you and your fiance have set!
5. EVERY bride is a high end bride and a low end bride in one way or another.
6. enjoy the planning process. If you become overwelmed, do not be afraid to ask for help from a coordinator. We know what you are going through and it is our job to take that stress off of you.

I hope this helps!

The Bell Tower weddings start at about 20K, if you hold the ceremony there as well, expect to pay about 30k. The Bell Tower is WAY over priced, but they are because they are the only venue like that in the Houston Area. Tuscany Villa in Katy is very simalar, and extremely reasonable priced, as well as all inclusive. Expect to pay about 15k for that venue.
