Im planning to have our wedding in Siesta Key in August 2011. I havent booked anything so far other than our flights and I have a pretty good idea where we might stay, but after that Im sort of lost! There are so many different wedding packages and I dont know which I should choose. The company I keep going back to is www.beachsunsetweddings.com because so far, they seem to have pretty inexpensive packages that include photography (very important!) So I may decide to go with them but am still willing to look at other options. What I would love to be able to do is have our beach wedding and then take our guests out to eat, but from what Ive found so far not many restaurants are open past 9 and that would make it hard to do after a sunset wedding. If anyone has any ideas or help I would appreciate it so much! Thank you!

HI Sarah, It is definitely not easy to plan a wedding from far away. We did the same thing for our April 2010 wedding on Siesta Key. My personal suggestion would be a two in one package from Stehman Photography and Ceremonies Just for You. They did our wedding and it was fantastic!!!! http://www.stehmanphotography.com/photographer_and_officiant_packages

If photos are important to you Carla really knew what she was doing and had truly professional equipment. One thing we ran across with some other vendors is that they just do photography as a side thing and don't have the true professional equiptment or the mastery of lighting at sunset. With the package we got it included both digital negatives and a really beautiful little album that I have sitting on my coffee table. It was perfect! I didn't think I wanted an album, but I am sure glad that I have it. I know my sister in law has her wedding photos sitting there in a box from 7 years ago and never made an album with them. This way you have that album

You are right that doing dinner after sunset in August might be hard. Please feel free to e-mail me at drabdeb@gmail.com and I can send you a list of some of the places we talked to last year. I would be happy to give you any insight I can or answer any questions you may have.

Im getting married in Siesta Key on April 1...we are having a dinner at Gabianos...why are the restaurants not open past 9? Seems strange. If you are hiring a wedding coordinator, they should also be able to help you.

Yes it certainly isnt easy planning a wedding from far away! Especially when it was sort of a spur-of-the moment decision! We originally were going to have our wedding here in Geneva, NY but as the guest list kept rising, so did the costs! So it was just last week that I decided to save money, we would do this florida wedding and just have our closest family and friends there. It gives us the chance to add an extended honeymoon to our wedding where we probably wouldnt have been able to afford anything this nice with paying almost double for a wedding here in NY.

I did get some great advice from a member named Libbie and she told me of a few places that would be good for a small reception after the ceremony. Im gonna look into SKOB for sure cause she gave a great review for there. I think they are open until 11 so that would probably work. I will have to look at Gabianos too. I definitely feel like Ive gotten quite a bit done in a week's time! Im just looking forward to having it all done so that I can just relax and wait for our wedding day to get here!!

Hi Sarah,
congratulations on your upcoming wedding and I am shocked to hear that "all" places close at 9:00pm at Siesta Key. This is not the case at all and we can gladly refer you the perfect venue for your reception. In a matter of fact we just had an event for a couple from Germany and they stayed until 2:00am (at some extra cost)
We have all of our ceremonies scheduled an hour before the sunset which gives our photographer plenty of time for all your personal pictures afterwards while the families and guests are enjoying the cocktail hour with a great DJ,
please give us a call at 941-320-3364 we would love to talk with you in detail.
Regards yours

Hello Sarah,

Check out our web site, www.SeaSideBride.com! We have packages that will also fit your budget and I would be able to establish photography for you as well! If you are wanting to get married on Siesta Key Proper, there are 3 zones that you will need to schedule a beach permit with the Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Deparment. I can provide you with that information as well! I have a couple that was married on Siesta Key Beach on 10/10/10 and had their reception at Gabiano's @ Siesta Key Village...Also, I know of couples that have had their reception at the Daquiri Deck in Siesta Key Village and they have been extremely accommodating! I would love for you to view our packages and we can work together to determine what your needs might be! Sue, SeaSide Bride, Sarasota FL Check out: Allison & Darrell's Testimonial!

Hi again Sarah,

Definitely check out SKOB (Siesta Key Oyster Bar) or Michaels on East. Both have awesome food!! We had our rehearsal dinner at SKOB because it was sort of causal and really what we were looking for.

We did our wedding dinner with our guests at Michaels on East and they were FANTASTIC!!!
My suggestion is that if you can find time to come down to FL before your wedding, do it. You will want to try and meet with your photographer and do a possible tasting at the restaurant you are considering for your special dinner.

As you are looking for places Gabiano's is great also!

In case you are wondering about our wedding package with Stehman Photography and Ceremonies Just for You - we did their Forever Memories of Love Package. It had two hours of photography with an unlimited number of photographs taken during that time. Carla arrived early and was even there for a few of the finishing touches of getting ready. She took AMAZING photos during the ceremony and then sunset photos that far surpassed a lot of what I have seen on other sites. Since the package was offered by an actual photographer, I was willing to pay a little more than a few quotes I got from others, especially since a really beautiful album came with the package. I know what happens if you only get a disk - they sit on a disk and never get printed. The package had the option of including pretty tiki torches and a a silk flower heart for us to stand in, but I wanted it to be simple. We paid $950.00 and it was more than worth it. You should call Carla and talk to her to see what she can do.

More than happy to help! I wish I would have spoken up and asked for more help during the process. I now see that these boards are a great way to get help. The process is not easy, but you will get it down and have a beautiful wedding I am sure.

I was married on Siesta Key Beach in 2009, and it was beautiful. Would not have had it any other way. We had a small wedding and had the reception on the beach catered from Publix. But if you want a venue to serve food that will also allow a DJ etc. and stays open later, try Turtles Restaurant. My stepson was going to get married there (but the bride's sister got pregnant and put a wrench in the plan), anyway, Turtles seemed to be an awesome place to work with and they are on the water. They were not very expensive either. We ate there, and the food was also delicious. Good Luck to the both of you!!! I had a "do it yourself wedding" but if I could be of any help to you, you are welcome to email me directly @ lisaginardi@aol.com (include Sieta Key wedding on the subject line or I will delete it as junk mail, if I don't know who it is coming from).

We had our reception catered by Publix also with fresh salads, sandwiches, fruit trays and even got our beautiful cake from Publix! It was really inexpensive compared to the other options we looked at. Maybe you can do something where you are staying while in town. Just an idea! Best of luck.

Hi Sarah,

I've been looking through these boards and was just wondering how your wedding went? I am actually getting married August 9th, 2012 on Siesta Key so I believe I will experience similar weather as you. We haven't booked a reception site yet but are looking at Gabbiano's. Any tips you can give me would be appreciated! Hope your day was great.

Sarah,

I would like for you to check out our web site: www.SeaSideBride.com.

My prices do not include a photographer, however, I am aligned with many that are reasonable for sunset weddings on Siesta Key. I can also assist you in personalizing your ceremony vows as well as how you stage your wedding site.

Thank you in advance for viewing.

Heidi,

I have had a lovely couple that was united in marriage on 10/10/10 on Siesta Key beach and then held their reception at Gabiano's. They allowed for their "Cup Cakes" for their wedding cake to be brought in for the reception.

SeaSide Bride is already booked for 8/9/2012, but wanted to let you know about your question.

Thank you,
Sue Ross

Hi Heidi! Congrats on your engagement! Unfortunately, I did not have a wedding after all :( But myself and my family still went to siesta key for vacation since we had already paid for everything and I can tell you this..you may really want to consider an indoor wedding or possibly changing the date because let me tell you it rained (I should say DOWNPOURED) the ENTIRE WEEK! We had maybe 2 nice days with some hours of sunshine but for the most part it was just terrible weather. I kept thinking the evening of august 8th how devastated I would have been being a bride in those terrible storms and how stressed I would have been. Of course I suppose it was much harder knowing I WASNT getting married at all! But theres a reason for everything and Im sure I avoided a terrible mistake. Sorry to be such a downer! There really is no telling what the weather will be like that time of year. I had my fair warning from people but didnt listen! Hopefully it will be a much nicer time next year and you wont get that terrible rain we had this year! Good luck to you!

Hello again Heidi,
we had a group which went "Gabbiano's" after their beach wedding. They had made that choice and were very dissatisfied with the service and food.

Hi Sarah,
I am SO sorry to hear that! I'm sure there is a reason for everything and the weather was just a major sign that you made the right decision. It is really too bad that it had to rain for your entire vacation though. Unfortunately we have already paid a deposit for the beach ceremony already, so it looks like we're taking our chances. I'm going to put up a new post asking for restaurant ideas so hopefully all will work out. I really appreciate your help and wish you the best!

I just read about your reception. We are thinking of doing the same. Do you have to have different permitting for reception versus wedding? I heard they don't allow tents anymore. I suppose you just hope the weather holds out? Any tips?

Thanks a bunch!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and you are right, Parks and Recreation is not allowing any tent set ups on the public beaches other then a 10x10
However, we have a few lovely private places down the road (same sand and gulf view) were a ceremony and reception can be planned.
