Nicks Photography is great, I have worked with him in the past, and they are wonderful!
Just wanted to give you some help... We were in the same boat as you all with religion and money. We did our ceremony at the Lightner Museum in the garden over the koi pond which was beautiful! We did our wedding in May and had no problems with weather. They have a back up chapel just in case but we choose it for the garden and prayed we were ok :) with the reception, we did it at the A1A Ale Works upstairs overlooking the Bridge of Lions. The food was good and it was affordable and best of all, everyone walked from the ceremony because it was so close. We are not from saint Augustine and looked into a lot of places and really loved these choices. We had a lot of guest stay at the casa Monica and that is directly in walking distance of both. Hope this helps and if you have further questions let me know. I was in your shoes not that long ago and could have used some advice :)
When you are ready to look at wedding cakes, please consider us. We have many local references available. Best of luck with your wedding plans!

Cograts Rebecca! Have you looked at the Oldest House for your ceremony? We got married there in oct 2008. It was a great setting and we could serve drinks to our guests just before and after the ceremony ( we supplied the wine, champagne and beer ourselves). We had our reception at the White Room as we loved the venue, but they are not a very trustworthy group- they made an error on our contract that cost us $2,000. The coordinator apologized, but this did nothing to return the money to us. Buyer beware with this location. We also looked at casa Monica - the poolside location is very pretty for the ceremony, but in my opinion, the ball room is a bit dark for a reception. Another possibility is the Pina Peck house for both the ceremony and the reception. I read that you can also get married on the lawn of the Castillo. There is also the option of using the upstairs deck of the winery - overlooks the city. Another thought is the Ximenez-Fatio house. This is across the street from the oldest house and is a beautiful location. It is outdoors, so good weather is required. But I have been to a wedding there and it was beautiful! should you choose to use 2 separate locations that are not within walking distance of one another- we rented the trolly for our guests to transport from 4 separate pick up locations to the ceremony at the oldest house and then to transport them to the reception at the White House and then back to the pickup locations at the end of the night. There are 2 trolley companies in saint Augustine and while I don't remember the name of the company we used,it was the orange and green trolley - they were the least expensive of the 2 ( not the red. and black trolley - much more expensive). A couple of other suggestions - for your cake, you must use Arlene with Sweet Weddings. She is impossible to reach but her cakes are Devine! Also, we did our rehearsal dinner at La Pentola - a great little restaurant that catered to our every need. We also did a welcome party the night before for our guests at Sangrias on St George street. The food, drinks and service was amazing!!!! In total we had appx 85 guests and spent abt 20,000 for everything. I did all of the planning myself and had a blast doing it. i would be happy to share any additional info that you need. we are not locals to the area either and I remember how difficult it was to get started! Where ever you choose, have a wonderful time!,
Thank you all so much for your help! You have given me some great ideas! I am calling people this week to make appointments to look at venues. Kelly, your budget is about the same as mine, so those suggestions are very helpful. The info on The White Room is a little disappointing because it is SO beautiful. I am hoping it is possible they may have new, more reliable staff. Do you remember the name of the coordinator there? Also, I have heard many good things about Sweet Weddings, I'll check them out with everything else. My first priority though is getting a location so I can firm
up my date! ;o)
Also - I looked at the Oldest house online but haven't been able to see exactly how many people they can accommodate. (I probably just need to click some more links or make a phone call) My guest estimate is about 120.
We had you make our wedding cake and it was great!
Thanks, Brittany. We appreciate that!

Hi Rebecca, I'm pretty sure that the Oldest house can accommodate 120. If you're interested, I would recommend that you call soon. I lost my original date by delaying a couple of days. That said, the coordinator at the White Room was someone by the name of Serena. I'm not sure if she's still there or not - i would doubt it as she was heavy on the sales and low on customer service. And, while I was terribly disappointed by her actions, it was a fantastic location and our reception was beautiful. I don't want to deter you, but instead I just caution you to ask a lot of questions and confirm every date and detail. In my case, she provided inaccurate information regarding the date that I needed to provide my final headcount. In the end, they are a business and I was naive to think that they were there to make my day perfect. We ended up inviting a number of new friends that we had met in the area so that the extra head count wasn't wasted. We had a blast despite the issue. :-)
Serena is not there anymore. There is another person in charge of White Room events. Hopefully, she will be more helpful, but I will be sure to keep your advice in mind. I'm heading up on Thursday to see the space and am also making appointments to talk to people at many of the other locations suggested here. Thanks for all the help. Happy New Year!
