I used Le Cheesecake for my cake maker..I was referred to them by the hotel. They make all kinds of cake, not just cheesecake. It was a delicious and beautiful cake. I attached a picture of it. We had strawberry cake with Bavarian cream filling for one layer and white amaretto with raspberry filling for the other layer. Also if you will be back here for your 1 year anniversary they will make u a fresh anniversary cake for free or if u want a special flavor it cost us $6. Not sure if they still do that but they did a year ago.

Hi there! We used the Publix right on St. Pete beach for our cake and they did an AMAZING job! It was really beautiful and fit our whole beach wedding theme. We also did a tasting with It's Icing on the Cake and their cake was lovely, but they were a little above our budget. In terms of a photographer - we booked a special photography/officiant package with Stehman Photography. We were also coming from out of the area, so it helped to have two vendors that were used to working together. It also helped because we only had to put one deposit down that covered both people. Our wedding day was really cloudy and the pictures were still perfect! I am attaching one of my favorites. For flowers we again used Publix because of budget and that was a big mistake. We had some regreat referrals, but they were a little pricey. If you can plan a quick trip down before the wedding I say do it. You will want to meet face to face with the vendros you plan on working with. Narrow it down to two or three to get a feel for their personality before making a final decision. Please e-mail me if you need any more advise.

Hi jen_white_21! Congrats on your engagement and upcoming wedding. The Grand Plaza is a beautiful wedding location on St. Pete Beach and the staff there are very helpful.

When it comes to wedding cakes we love It's Icing on the Cake. I am attaching a photo of last weekends double wedding with their mini cakes out on Pass-a-Grille Beach. Gina is the contact at It's Icing on the Cake and she can help you with additional details. Now if you are really on a tight budget, definitely contact Publix. The ladies there are fantastic and really creative.

When it comes to flowers we love working with Cheral Floral Studio. We also love Beyond Floral because of their creativity.

As you plan your destination wedding don't forget to find someone to marry you. We meet with a lot of couples who totally forget that they need an officiant, celebrant or minister to marry them on their special day. I am not sure if the Grand Plaza includes music with their packages, but there are a lot of great DJs and bands in the area also.

If you have a moment please do check out our website for different destination wedding ideas. www.stehmanphotography.com

Best of luck as you plan your wedding and start your new life together.

We recommend Seaside Florals on St Pete Beach, and Publix is actually great for wedding cakes.

We got married there May 2010 and used Alma Ingram for the flowers and A Special Touch Cakes by Carolynn for the cake. Both were fabulous to work with and very reasonably priced. FYI Cakes by Carolynn does not work with fondant.

Congratulations on your wedding, this brings back great memories for me, we got married at the Tradewinds on May 2009, the Grand plaza is such a nice place also!!

Our florist was milly flowers in Tampa..millyflowers.com, she was so nice and patient to work with as i changed my mind a million times, she delivered the flowers the morning of the wedding and they were everything i expected,i found her to be inexpensive compared to some on the beach.

Our photographer was Stephenruddphotography.com very professional, on time and i had my proofs within 3 weeks of getting married,a did a really great job
!
Our cake was by joe at chocolatejoe.com, he is such a gentleman and our cake was delicious it was totally what we wanted and very inexpensive,if you contact any of these vendors please tell them siobhan the irish girl from Boston sent you..btw joe also made cookies for our guests for later in the evening, he is very close to the hotels so we got to meet him a few times before our big day, good luck with the rest of the planning!

I want to thank everyone for helping me with suggestions! It is very scary having a destination wedding and not really knowing who to go to so this is very helpful! Does Publix or Icing on the cake have websites?

Check out It's Icing on the Cake by going to www.itsicingonthecake.com or just give Gina a call at 727-827-2913 They have a great selection of flavors! Our favorite is the Decadent dark chocolate cake with Irish coffee butter cream. Heavenly white cake with strawberry butter cream is really yummy too! Make sure to tell Gina that Stehman Photography sent you.

Publix wedding and special occasion website is http://www.publix.com/food/catalog/Bakery/WeddingSpecialOccasion/Home.do

Give them a call at 727-360-7091 and ask to talk to their lead decorator. The website has some of their basics, but the decorators are able to customize cakes especially for you.

Fondant looks beautiful, but I did not like the taste of it at all. I thought the buttercream tasted better. See if there is a bakery in your area where you can maybe get a small speciality cake for an upcoming event. That way you will get to taste the difference between fondant and buttercream. I will tell you that the frosting on our Publix wedding cake was REALLY good. Everyone of our guests from out of town loved our cake. We did two layers of white with rasberry filling and two layers of chocolate with chocolate filling. Definitely find a flavor that both you and your fiance like because you will want to enjoy that first bite of cake you feed each other.

Hi Jen. I see you're getting a lot of help, and I don't want to send you into "information overload" either, but I am a destination wedding photographer and would love to help you out with your wedding photos. You can see all about us (my wife and I) at our website: www.AboutTheDay.com. There's tons of samples, packages & prices, reviews, and our calendar too (since I didn't see the date you are considering?) ...and there's a ad and profile about us here on Wedding Mapper too!

You're always welcome to call or email me anytime too if you would like to discuss your plans in greater detail. --Stephen

Hi Jen! Wedding Mapper is definitely a place to get good ideas and find wonderful vendors. Destination wedding are a lot of fun for you as the future Mr. & Mrs., but also for your guests. The Grand Plaza on St. Pete Beach is a lovely choice.

Planning a wedding can be difficult when you are far away. In many cases you have to rely on other people's reviews and thoughts. When it comes to florists we love the work that Carter's Florist in St. Petersburg does. The website for them is: http://cartersflorist.com/page-weddings-galleries.php Their online galleries give you good ideas of the work they do for bouquets, center pieces and ceremony sites. I have even seen an adorable flower dog collar for a couple that included their dog in the ceremony. They also have 3 budget categories and can design your florals with what you are looking for.

There are many great bakers in and around St. Pete Beach. We love a couple of them. As mentioned before there is It's Icing on the Cake - Gina is such a sweetheart. He forte is definitely fondant designs, but they make some really moist cake and fun flavors. A Special Touch Bakes by Carolyn make some really yummy creations and her detail work is incredible. Usually I don't recommend a grocery store for anything to do with a wedding, but Publix does make great cake. We use Publix for most of our family birthday parties as well as wedding showers, baby showers, and anniversary.

When it comes to photographer we work with Stehman Photography on a regular basis. We even have special packages with them - please go to http://www.ceremoniesjustforyou.com/officiant_and_photography_packages to get an idea of some pricing, but they do also make special packages to fit your needs. Stehman Photography does a lot of destination weddings and it has really become one of her specialities. Carla is a joy to work with and makes couples feel at ease throughout the day. More importantly she captures really beautiful moments and makes every bride look their best.

We would love to talk to you and answer any additional questions you might have. Please feel free to e-mail us at ceremoniesjfy@gmail.com

Best of luck and I hope your wedding is everything you have dreamed it will be. Take a deep breath because it will be great!
