We are having everything at The Grand Hotel !!!
I used Sue Walden. She was really nice. Her photgraphy is very photo journalistic, less artsy. In the end we wound up with a ridiculous # of pictures (+2000). This was in part bc we are a hard to photograph couple.
What kind of style are you looking for?
We definately like the photojournalistic style that all 3 have. It is really coming down to who we feel will suit our personalities and style. My fiance's biggest concern is that they are familiar with the ggrand hotel, i feel that as a photographer, especially if you are a really good one you can adapt to any surroundings you are handed.

Did any of you have your wedding at the Hotel Alcott. If so I am wondering how you liked it and if you have any pointers.
Mer, I think the post prior to this is about the Alcott and there were several reviews in there. Take a look at that one. I had my wedding there and all my guests loved it.
I used sue walden for the photography for my wedding and the pictures are absolutely gorgeous! I specifically hired sue walden because I felt her photography was artistic. I have received numerous compliments on how my wedding pictures look like they are from a bridal magazine. She is a local photographer and I am sure she has done weddings at the grand and I was also pleased with her ideas on locations in that area (my wedding was at congress hall) that would make for great photo oppportunities.
i used sue walden and my wedding reception was at the grand and since then i"ve seen her shoot 2 other weddings there as well. i would recommend her to anyone - she adapts her style to her clients' wishes without losing her own identity and creativity - tell her what you are looking for and she'll deliver. my best friend and i both used her and we had totally different perpectives on what we wanted. her work was amazing with both of us - our pictures are classic yet unique and honest not posed or set up and our album is one of a kind she put it together for me its awesome. she is so easy to work with i hope you still consider her - you will not be dissappointed
thank you for your reply. We are still considering her. We just recieved some disturbing news that Karen Bergman has left the Grand. We are hoping this does not affect anything as she was a big part of us using the Grand. Was the Grand everything that they said and did they deliver or fall back on any promises made?
Karen was not there when I got married there in 2005. We had no problems with the Grand delivering on everything we wrote up in the contract. My advice, whatever you want or agree upon, make sure it's in the contract, clearly written out - that way there is no room for error or assumptions. We were very particular about how many bartenders we wanted in order to accommodate for the number of guests and to avoid waiting too long for a drink. The Grand originally told us they couldn't give us a number of how many would be on but it was 'quality' over 'quantity' well we weren't okay with that so we had it written up in the contract exactly how many bartenders would be on at each bar throughout the night. Hope this helps! I think the Grand is an awesome place for a reception! good luck. oh, my one other suggestion is to talk about the unlocking the elevator prior to cocktail hour! we had to fight with the front desk to have them open the elevator prior to 5 oclock when the cocktail hour started...i understand that nothing was to begin until 5 but the elevator is so slow and so small that it needs to be opened prior to your reception or it will take an hour just to get everyone up to the room! definitely talk that out with them...didn't see that one coming! best of luck. by the way , i am not suewaldenphoto i am using her account to post. if you want to contact me my email is firstname.lastname@example.org
We are in the Penthouse ballroom which has a minimum financial requirement of over 16,000.00. I am not sure aboout the first floor ballroom though.
I do know Sue, and she is talented, and her work is excellent. Some other choices good choices: RMS Photography, and Still Motion.
Alliance Video is great for wonderful video production with class and fun at the same time!

And you don't have to use organ at the church either if you'd rather have strings...
