Hello everybody I really need help!!!
i am looking for a banquest hall where i can have our wedding and reception. i want to have my own food and wine. i really want something elegant that will hold up tp 150 people. PLease help!!!

Check out Hibernian Hall - if you call the Hall directly you can use your own caterer and bring your own alcohol. If you book through the mills house you have to use the mills house for catering.

Look at Cottage on the Creek! It's on Shem Creek and Emily is so awesome to work with. I just booked it for Nov 12, 2010. Let me know if you need her contact information. Please tell her Christy sent you!

Also, Alhambra Hall is another good choice! I don't know if they have much open for next year.

I think my sister had her engagement party at Cottage on the Creek and it was so lovely. And Hibernian Hall was my first choice for a venue. Also look into Charleston Place, Legare Waring, any of the plantations, and the Thomas Bennett House (this is where I would get married if I could do it over again!)

not for certain they let you bring your own food, but i thought they allowed that option.

We had our wedding at Alhambra Hall and I highly recommend it. We had the ceremony out on the lawn and the reception indoors. It easily holds 150 people. The available dates can be found here:

It looks like there aren't really any Saturdays available, but there are some Fridays. Plus, sometimes peoples plans change and dates open up. You can be put on a waiting list.

We used South Carolina Society Hall. You can reach Skip at 843 723 9032. It is very elegant, and you can use your own food. We had a hard time keeping food affordable, and considered doing it ourselves, but got a good deal from "The Caterer" and they did an excellent job. I highly recommend him. Reach Ross Andrews (the chef) or Bryson Hills (his planning manager, a her) at 843 769 7446.

We used Society Hall too but I don't think it would be very comfortable for 150 people. We had a sit down dinner for 60 people and it felt crammed. However, it truly is a stunning venue.

I was SUPER worried about space because we invited 300, but most were out of town. I was petrified they would all show up! We had about 130, with a heavy hors d'oerves cocktail reception. We left chairs around the edges, and I purchased 6 end tables off overstock.com that served as little cocktail tables so people had a place to sit and put their food down. We kept the food stations small and well distributed thru the room to keep "traffic" flowing, and then removed them later when the dancing began. We had MORE than enough room - it actually felt a little empty at the end!

The Charleston Yacht Club! Great venue in downtown Charleston right on the water! There is an outside deck for a ceremony, and indoor reception hall. Price is only $1550! Can't beat that! We had ours on the beach, but i've been to a few weddings at Boone Hall Plantation at the Cotton Dock. Beautiful setting and pretty reasonable.

oh, you should check out St. James Church on James Island. They have a catering service and everything, and it's a beautiful location, lots of lovely oak trees and green!! www.charlestoneventsvenue.com
