There are a couple options in Cohasset. The Red Lion Inn and Lightkeeper's Cottage are both charming and unique. And Atlantica (restaurant) is more modern and right on the harbor, which is beautiful, of course!
Atlantica is a beutiful venue. Another idea is Pine Hills in Plymouth. They have a lovely function room.
Thanks! I just found out about Red Lion and it looks beautiful. What about Jones River Trading in Kingston? The inside pictures look cool, but I cant find much on the grounds.
I don't know anything about Jones River Trading, but I think the Red Lion Inn could be great. It's definitely not modern, but it's unique and very pretty!
I just came across Raffael's at the Clarion Hotel in Nantasket Beach, Hull. It's a beautiful location right across from the beach.
Thanks-that does sound great. My mother was telling me about Cranebrook Tea Room also. Anyone have any experience there? Or the Daniel Webster House in Marshfield?
Ive come up with some weird results when I do a google search for Lightkeepers Cottage- do you know where I can get some info?
I'm not sure why there's not more clear information on some sort of Lightkeeper's Cottage website. But I just found out that apparently you have to be a Cohasset resident to book it. My parents live there, which is how I know about it. But unless you or your groom's family have contacts in Cohasset, it probably wouldn't work after all. Sorry to send you on a wild goose chase!
Wow -- Cranebrook Tea Room looks gorgeous! I'd never heard of it, but I might consider it for a bridesmaid luncheon or something along those lines.
The Daniel Webster Estate also looks wonderful. I love the idea of using a historic home for a reception. We are getting married up in Concord, which is where I grew up and my fiance's family still is, and the reception will be at the Pierce House in Lincoln -- a historic estate similar to the Webster House.
Bummer, but thanks for the help!
The Pierce House is gorgeous- the grounds with the water, lucky you! There is something similar in Duxbury, but its not big enough for my reception, it only holds 75 people. I havent been to the Daniel Webster since it was a camp 10 years ago so I have my mother scouting since I live in the Pacific Northwest right now.
I went to the Daniel Webster house a couple of years ago for their house tour and it's a BEAUTIFUL house and grounds. A wonderful setting for a wedding! You couldn't do better!
So funny that you live in the Pacific Northwest and have your mom scouting sites for you, since I live in California but made my mom promise to not visit the Pierce House until I'm there to visit with her. I don't want her to see the beautiful property in person until I do! haha.
Well, shes only allowed to find out details and make the phone calls for me. Her opinion counts, but my impression of the place will make the final decision. Its a good way for her to feel involved. :)
help anyone i would like to find something beautiful for my wedding ceremony in new bedford anything except for the rotch jones duff house does anyone have any ideas it don't have to be new bedford but in the surrounding area
What about the Whaling Museum? Have you seen Southern New England Weddings magazine? Its more expensive than a regular wedding magazine, but its worth it. It was really helpful for me, it lists out all the venues by region and has alot of ads.
i never heard of that magazine where can i purchase it and thanks for the help
You can buy it online or they have a list of locations on the site. Hope that helps.
I am getting married May 23,2009 in Kingston at the Jones River Trading Company. It is not much to behold from the outside but the inside is great. A nautical art museum kind of feel..it's worth a look if you have nothing else.
In Plymouth you can book out SABOR Downtown or SABOR Market for private functions. SABOR DOwntown is small and elegant and SABOR Market is large and more modern and they have the best food in Plymouth. If not for the weddings they are both great options for showers or rehearsal dinners.
One of our favorite places we're interested in having our wedding at is the Daniel Webster Estate...any experience w/dining inside using a small tent for dancing? We absolutely love it there, but that is one of the things we are trying to get around or see if anyone went or had their wedding there and had it set up like that. The Lightkeeper's is so beautiful, but found it would be too small. It's just one room, no where to go.
Went to a wedding at Nantasket once. The view wasn't all that great and there was no outdoor porch or veranda to actually go outside and enjoy the view. And once it got dark out you couldn't really even notice the ocean. The food was okay, nothing special. Just wanted to let you know, if you wanted the beach feel to your wedding.
Is anyone willing to refer us so we can have our reception at the Plymouth Yacht Club?
It's a members only club and a referral from a member is needed to have your reception there. My fiance and I grew up on the South Shore but sadly we don't know any members. Any help is appreciated :)
