DOMINIC AND SHANNON'S WEDDING

"We came to Lanikuhonua last year on vacation and Dom proposed there. It's so weird to come full circle. I knew that we'd have to get married at Lanikuhonua even though we live so far away! It seemed wrong to even consider other places... and we never did."

Question:
Hi Shannon! Congrats on you marriage and happy belated 1 yr anniversary :) I'm getting married at the Laniku. and I'm very excited - all of the photos of the place look great - but it's hard to really know b/c ive nEVER been there. I know i have 2 option of where ot have the cermemony, what would you say are the pros and cons of both. And, what a shame the hotels are soo expensive. We're guessing our guests will stay in Waikiki too - did you shuttle them to the wedding? How did that go?

Hi Lisa, I'm happy to help so no worries! We love Laniku, but we weren't from there either and planning was tricky. (Sounds like you are thinking the same way we did.) We are from Australia and had to do most of the planning online and over the phone. We did bus our guests from Waikiki because of the prices were better there and it actually worked perfectly! (Having the guest on a fixed schedule really helped... whereas if they drove or stayed nearby, they might have been late or scattered early :) We also did a lot of research online for everything from photographers, coordinators, cakes and all of that and got really lucky with our Photographers. They totally helped us with much advice and helpful tips for the area too... (They have a BLOG about us on their site if you want to see about US. It's really cool.) Their site is AboutTheDay.com and we're the December 2008 blog. (I can't send full links or I would!)
I'm not sure which 2 options they offered you, but we were at the South end of the grounds?!

Question:
Hi there,
I am very interested in having my wedding reception @ Lanikuhonua but I am concerned about ending the party early @ 9:30pm. how did you deal with this (ie. time dinner started and having enough time to dance and party)

Hi Lesley, We had worked out our plans to correspond nicely with their schedule, and there wasn't any problem at all. The buses were helpful for our guests because it implied it was time to go! :) The location is great too!
