Our #1 favorite place to eat. The tacos al pastor (AL PASS - TORE) are great. Get a side of refried black beans and queso with trimmings. Don't forget the avocado margartia...sounds gross but is really quite lovely. Other places to eat: 1)Las Manitas - downtown Interior Mexican food. Legendary simple fare but authentic - try the chicken mole or the avocado enchiladas and soon to be torn down for a giant Hotel. 2)Juan in a Million - do you like refried beans that taste like bacon? Well this breakfast joint is for you! 3)Ok for those not going to Salt Lick, Artz is our favorite Rib shack followed by Green Mesquite.

This is rated one of THE TOP Mexican restaurants in the country. It is really upscale and you won't find any food like this in many parts of the US.

Polvos Probably our #2 pick for yummy Mexican food. Fish tacos are tha best on corn tortillas. Get the queso with all the trimmings and stir it up! #1 place we go to b/c of distance from our casa. Reportedly Lyle Lovett's favorite Austin dive.

One of the last true honky tonks around Austin. You won't believe it! Bring your boots or dancin' shoes at least.
