STEPHEN AND ASHLEY'S WEDDING
May, 2011 in Austin"Our wedding was a fairytale!!! We had everything that I had ever dreamed of. Getting married in Austin was perfect for us, but we did blow our budget. The Wedding Mapper was a great resource to share with our guests. We'd highly recommend using it because everyone loved it since we had activities planned from Thursday evening through brunch on Sunday."

Restaurant:
Chez Zee Cafe & Dessert Bakery
5406 Balcones DriveAustin, TX, United States
"In 1988, Sharon Watkins closed her Austin ad agency and purchased a defunct little dive, Chez Fred. Her vision was to combine the delectable delights of an old-world bakery with the convivial cuisine of an American-style bistro. She kept the old restaurant’s sign, bought a vowel and a ‘Z’, and in 1989 the newly-christened Chez Zee opened its doors. Our whimsical restaurant has been charming Austin locals ever since. From inside to out, Chez Zee is warm and welcoming with an original vibe that reflects both its art-loving owner and the creative city in which it exists. Upon arrival, an arched walkway of lights leading to the restaurant’s patio invites patrons to sit and play board games such as Connect Four. Strands of white Christmas lights (a trademark touch year round) are hung throughout the dining rooms, along with an assortment of other creative, seasonal installations. Chez Zee’s support for local artists is evident from the rotating exhibits of artwork on every wall. A red piano resides in the middle of our main dining room providing live music Thursdays through Sundays. Chez Zee serves a wide range of American fare with southern regional influences and plenty of locally sourced ingredients. Our bistro is also highly acclaimed for its sumptuous weekend brunch and desserts. Come join us for stellar wines, our signature brand of American fare or one of our award-winning desserts. We’re saving a chair for you!"
Restaurant:
Guero's
1412 South Congress AvenueAustin, TX, United States
"The building that houses the Guero's dining room was built as a seed and feed store in the late 1800's. This Central Seed and Feed Store, a now Austin Landmark, served as a neighborhood meeting place for all of South Austin's characters. Dice games in the back room and book makers paying off bets on the front porch were standard fare for the day. The neighborhood held onto its eclectic roots during the development boom. As the city expanded in all directions during the 1970's and 80's, South Austin, and South Congress in particular, continued to serve the strong community now identifiable by zip code alone. Enjoy our handmade corn tortillas, specialty dishes, and make sure to visit our salsa bar. Our caldo de pollo and tacos al pastor are just a few of our tried-and-true favorites. Start off with a hand-shaken margarita in our cantina, or enjoy an icy cold cerveza while listening to music in our Oak Garden. Just sit back, relax, and let us do what we do best. Thanks for coming by."
Restaurant:

Restaurant:
Oasis On Lake Travis
6550 Comanche TrailAustin, TX, United States
"Beau Theriot, owner of The OASIS, had a goal of opening a small hamburger joint on Lake Travis in the early 1980's. That dream became a reality when the doors at The OASIS first opened in 1982. Located on a cliff 450-feet above Austin's Lake Travis, The OASIS has earned the reputation as Sunset Capital of Texas."
Restaurant:
Shady Grove
1624 Barton Springs RoadAustin, TX, United States
"Shady Grove opened its doors to customers in January of 1992. Nestled under the shade of a tall pecan grove just minutes from dowtown, the restaurant fast became an Austin favorite. Styled after the architecture made popular by the State Parks built in th 40's, the restaurant offers homey relaxed dining inside and out. Shady Grove's patio and juke box, as well as its food has been the recipient of many "Best of Austin" Polls. Shady Grove reflects Austin's appreciation of the outdoors and entertainment. Reminiscent of long summer nights at the drive in, the restaurant's Starlight Theater features Hitchcock classics, old westerns, sci-fi flicks and beach movies. These great movie classics never looked better than when seen under the stars on the sweeping patio at Shady Grove, sipping a Shady Thing."
Restaurant:
Taco Shack
3901 Spicewood Springs Rd # CAustin, TX, United States
"Over 10 years ago, I started my first Taco Shack in Austin after pursuing the dream of having a family owned business since my high school years. Soon, my wife, Yoli, and I had a group of dedicated employees and several new “Shacks” to spread our great Tex-mex taste around Austin! Always, we appreciate your business and stop by if you’re in the neighborhood and say hello to our other family members."
Restaurant:
Threadgill's Restaurant
6416 North Lamar BoulevardAustin, TX, United States
"Threadgill’s original location (6416 N. Lamar) Perhaps country music lover and bootlegger Kenneth Threadgill had more in mind when he opened his Gulf filling station just north of the Austin city limits in 1933, for the day that Travis County decided to “go wet ” in December of the same year, Kenneth stood in line all night to be the first person to own a liquor license in the county. Soon, the filling station became a favorite spot for traveling musicians since it was open 24 hours for drinking, gambling and jamming. Kenneth would sing songs by his beloved Jimmie Rodgers nightly. Musicians who came to play were paid in beer. Such was the atmosphere at Threadgill’s, it was only when a curfew was enacted in 1942 that its owner had to get a key for the front door, before that it had yet to have been locked."
Restaurant:
Trudy's North Star
8820 Burnet RoadAustin, TX, United States

At Vespaio, you'll find authentic antipasti & salads, wood-fired pizzas, pastas from light to robust, extraordinary entrees, and decadent desserts."
Restaurant:
Z'Tejas
9400 A Arboretum BoulevardAustin, TX, United States
"In 1989, the first Z'Tejas was born in an old Victorian house on Austin's historic 6th Street. The menu, largely influenced by the south, signifies the bold robust flavors of Arizona, California, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas. If you want to go to the ORIGINAL location, then go to: 1110 W. 6th Street Austin, Texas 78703 512.478.5355 By 1993, Z'Tejas was operating two more locations in Scottsdale, Arizona. Today, we have 10 restaurants in the Western United States. Where did we get our name? Well, the origin of the name is a story that varies depending on who's telling the tale. But as Shakespeare said, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.""

Hill's Cafe
4700 South Congress AvenueAustin, TX, United States
"Charlie Goodnight rode bareback from Illinois to Texas when he was nine years of age. He was hunting with the Caddo Indians beyond the frontier at thirteen, launched into the cattle business at twenty, guiding Texas Rangers at twenty-four, blazing cattle trails nearly two thousand miles at forty, and at forty-five dominating nearly twenty million acres of range country in the interest of order. At sixty he was recognized as possibly the greatest scientific breeder of range cattle in the west. At ninety he was an international authority on the range industry. More on Charlie Goodnight can be found throughout the newly opened Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, Texas. The chuckwagon, invented by Charlie Goodnight, was the first restaurant known to the cowboy on the cattle drive. It was from this chuckwagon that the Charlie Goodnight tradition of fine steaks began. Over the years Hill's Cafe has been flooded and has burned, but Hill's continues to tell the story of one of the greatest traditions of Texas. The Goodnight family built a 20-seat coffee shop next to the Goodnight Motel (established 1941) on South Congress, which was then Old U.S. 81 or The Old San Antonio Highway. It was opened with partner Sam "Posey" Hill, hence the name Hill's Cafe. The Goodnight's bought out Mr. Hill in 1957. Through out the years, the cafe complex has grown to accommodate nearly 500 people. After 54 years of serving the public, Boomer Goodnight and the Goodnight family have passed the torch to Austin radio personality and community leader Bob Cole. Bob's passion for South Austin and his commitment to the preservation of it's heritage is a "natural fit" with the Goodnights that insures Hill's Cafe lives up to its reputation. A visit to Hill's Cafe has always been an investment in the true and cultured heritage of Austin, Texas Until you have been to Hill's Cafe, you cannot legitimately consider yourself a true Austinite."

Over the course of 17 years we have come up with a time tested approach to each of our locations, it's all about the entertainers. We don't cut corners when it comes to hiring and keeping the best. Our piano players are family and we ask them to help us grow new talent by training up and comers. That's how we insure that our shows don't become some watered down version of the original. The combination of seasoned veterans and new talent give our show incredible energy and creativity. At Pete's Dueling Piano Bar making sure our show is the best is our main concern."

"You already know that the Alamo Drafthouse is the best movie theater to see your favorite first run movies at, but have you been to one of our Signature Events yet? Recently, we began exporting Quote-Alongs, Sing-Alongs, Girlie Night screenings, Tough Guy Cinema shows and so much more from our home base in Austin out to all of the other Alamo locations. If you haven't been to any of those shows yet, then you haven't really been to the Alamo!"
Entertainment:
Esther's Follies
525 E 6th StAustin, TX, United States
"What exactly is it that has made the magical world of Esther's Follies so bizarrely unique in musical-comedy theater for more than 25 years? The answer is right before your eyes - before, during, and after the show. The peculiar interaction between stage and street has been a Follies hallmark since the beginning. While the first couple of weekend "shows" swam around a long wooden bar (rumored to have been a witness to the death of Sam Bass in Round Rock) and a rinky-dink upright piano set against the wall, Esther's intense performances and packed audiences soon made it soon apparent that a stage was in order."
Entertainment:
The HighBall
1142 South Lamar BlvdAustin, TX, United States
"The best diner this side of 1960, featuring eight lanes of bowling with rental by the hour; seven different themed karaoke rooms; four lanes of skee-ball with ticketed prizes you won’t find anywhere else and a ballroom event space set to host the best dance parties, live music, and karaoke nights that will leave you hoarse for days."
Outside Attraction:
Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge
100 Congress AvenueAustin, TX, United States
"The Congress Avenue Bridge spans Town Lake in downtown Austin and is home to the largest urban bat colony in North America. The colony is estimated at 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats. Each night from mid-March to November, the bats emerge from under the bridge at dusk to blanket the sky as they head out to forage for food. This event has become one of the most spectacular and unusual tourist attractions in Texas. The most spectacular bat flights are during hot, dry August nights, when multiple columns of bats emerge. There are several points from which to view the event, and an information kiosk is located on the north bank of the river, just east of the bridge."
Outside Attraction:
Barton Springs Pool & Zilker Park
2201 Barton Springs RoadAustin, TX, United States
"About Barton Springs Pool Austin, Texas Within Zilker Park's 358 acres, lies one of the crown jewels of Austin, Barton Springs Pool. Three acres in size, the pool is fed from under ground springs and is on average 68 degrees year round. It is also fed by Austin's Barton Creek Greenbelt and eventually flows into Lady Bird Lake. Over the years, Barton Springs Pool has drawn people from all walks of life, from legislators who have concocted state laws there to free-spirited topless sunbathers who turned heads in the seventies. Today, Barton Springs still attracts a diverse crowd of people and is known as the number one swimming spot in Austin, TX."
Outside Attraction:
Mount Bonnell
3800 Bonnell DrAustin, TX 78731
"About Mount Bonnell - Austin, TX Austin's Mount Bonnell is one of Austin's oldest tourist attractions being documented as far back as 1850. It is the highest point within Austin City Limits at 785 feet, but is actually smaller than Mt. Larson directly across from Mt. Bonnell but located in West Lake Hills. A wonderful place to picnic in the sun, Mt. Bonnell contains views of Lake Austin and the Pennybacker or 360 Bridge as well as wonderful vistas of downtown. The area is a short hike from the road and there is no entrance fee. It's a great place to catch a picnic and enjoy some amazing views! A Romantic Side Note About Mt Bonnell There is a legend that Mt. Bonnell was once called Antoinette's Leap, named after a damsel who leaped to her death to avoid capture from Indians that killed her lover, who fought to his death to defend her. Now generally considered safe, Mt. Bonnell is one of the most romantic locations in Austin. Lovers: keep your heads clear and avoid walking too close to the cliffs! Parents should keep an eye on their children as well."
Outside Attraction:
Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail Head
Austin, TX, United States"About Austin's Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail Winding through trees, bridges and more along the shores of the Colorado River, the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail stretches from the Tom Miller Dam in the West to the Longhorn Dam in the East. The Town Lake trail's 10.1 miles are some of the most popular in all of Austin. It is great whether you like to walk, run or bike! It is hard to believe that you are just seconds from the downtown of a large, vibrant city like Austin while you are enjoying Town Lake and the natural beauty of the outdoors. And this beauty can be enjoyed practically year round because of Austin's mild climate and sunny skies. A host of all athletic levels commingle peacefully along the mostly crushed granite trail. Only 2.5% of the Hike and Bike trail has more than an 8% grade so it is flat enough for beginners but long enough to challenge the most frequent runners. There are many access points and bridges along the trail, including the famous Congress Avenue Bridge with all the Mexican Free-Tailed bats. This allows you to easily vary the lengths of your run and get a change of scenery by trying the other side of Town Lake or starting a different point. Be aware that the trail breaks, connecting via city sidewalks on the South shore of Town Lake on either side of IH 35. Along the trail are several mile markers. The 0 mile marker is located between South 1st Bridge and the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue. And along with these mile markers, there are many Austin attractions along and near the Town Lake trail. Among these are Zilker Park, Capital Cruises Kayaks Rentals and Bat Watching Tours, Austin Rowing Dock, Barton Springs, Auditorium Shores, Austin High School (with tennis courts), Deep Eddy pool, Eilers Park, Downtown YMCA, Fiesta Gardens and Festival Beach. The trail also connects to many other hike and bike trails both North and South of Town Lake."
