Question:
I am getting married next year and have been looking everywhere for indoor loactions for picutres. Do have pictures of the interior of the ELms Mansion where you took your picutres. I searched online but mostly all i can find are the exterior pictures. Also, how much was the fee for taking the pictures there?

Response from the couple:
Hi Rackel,
Unfortunately, I do not think that you can take interior pictures at any of the Newport Mansions unless you are having your wedding reception there. We were not allowed inside at all except for my wedding party to use the bathroom. If you are interested in having pictures done at any of the mansions, you have to go through the Newport Preservation Society. I joined the organization to that I could pay less for the pictures. I think I saved over $100 by doing that. I think we paid $125 plus the membership. Hope this helps!

Question:
Hello Rachel and Eric!
My fiance and I are getting married on June 25, 2011. We are looking into having our ceremony at Holy Name Church, but we have some questions we were hoping you could answer! Did Father Harrison marry you? How did the ceremony go? Was he open to having the traditional "Here Comes the Bride" as you came down the aisle? We are hoping to have a secular song played (Somewhere Over the Rainbow, on CD)as we leave the church...thoughts on that at Holy Name? Also, this may seem silly but did the priest say "You may now kiss the bride" and/or introduce you as the new Mr. and Mrs.? I am sorry to give you so many questions, but my fiance and I belong to different parishes, and we want to feel full informed before we choose one over the other. Thank you so much!

Response from the couple:
Hi Jen,
Yes, Father Harrison married us. The ceremony was flawless and he let me decorate it exactly how I wanted it. The music was the major problem! I had spent months choosing songs that were "non-traditional" that my friend could sing. We had everything all picked out and then met with the organist about 2 weeks before the wedding to finalize music. Unfortunately, the organist claimed that Father Harrison did not allow non-traditional songs. To this day, we still think that it was the organist not knowing how to play the songs, NOT Father Harrison. My advice would be to ask Father Harrison or get a different organist. He did not say "you may now kiss the bride" which confused my groom and made for a funny wedding memory. He said something like "You may now seal your love" and my husband wasn't sure what to do! He did introduce us as the new Mr. & Mrs. Everything was perfect except it wasn't the music I wanted. To be honest with you, it all goes by so fast that I don't even remember the music now. I know what we played, but in that moment you forget it all! Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further information! Good luck!
