We are the city of roses, you can see them for yourself at this park that overlooks downtown Portland.

Mt Tabor Park

This is the only volcano within city limits in all of the US (I think!). Don't worry, it's not active, but you can hike some good trails and get a good view of the city from the top.

Multnomah Falls/Columbia River Gorge

If you have the time for a drive out of the city, the Columbia River Gorge is a great day-trip. Lots of waterfalls and hiking. You can also stop in Hood River for shopping and restaurants.
