"From Toledo.com: The Best Sushi in Town. One our personal favorites. For the "brave", make sure to try the Maguro Nigiri (Raw Tuna), it literally melts in your mouth. For the faint of heart, don't miss out on the California rolls. Sure, once you've had one you've had them all, not true! Kotobuki's are by far the best we have ever had. We think its something they put in the rice. Quaint atmosphere."

Tony Packos - Restaurants - 1902 Front St, Toledo, OH, 43605

Tony Packo's

1902 Front St
Toledo, OH 43605

"There are a couple of Packo's locations in the area, but this is the original. A Toledo institution, this Hungarian restaurant located just across the Maumee River from downtown, is known for its spicy pickles and peppers and its Hungarian hotdogs, topped with chili. Tony Packo's, opened in 1932, was brought to the country's attention when "MASH"'s Corporal Klinger, a Toledo native, mentioned it repeatedly on the TV series. It's a unique and affordable place to eat and out of all of the restaurants in the Toledo area, the place that Suzy and I have been to the most."

The Canal Experience & Providence Metropark

13827 US-24
Grand Rapids, OH 43522

"Canal boats once carried goods and people 249 miles between Toledo and Cincinnati, linking Lake Erie and the Ohio River. Visitors to Providence today get a sense of what canal travel was like during a trip aboard an authentic, mule-drawn canal boat on an original section of the Miami and Erie Canal. During the 45-minute trip, including passage through an original lock, living history characters tell educational and entertaining stories about life in the late-1800s. At the Isaac Ludwig Mill, waterpower is still used to saw logs and grind grain. The mill and a nearby building that was once a hotel are two of the three remaining structures from the former canal town of Providence. The Providence Dam, just upriver from the mill, was originally constructed to keep the canal filled with water. Special events at Providence include lantern tours and an annual mill festival in July. Weekly family programs in the summer feature old-time crafts, from candle dipping to tinsmithing. Hours of Operation June through August Wednesday - Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weekends Noon to 4 p.m. Canal boat tickets: $6 adults, $5 seniors (60 and over), $4 children (3 to 12), ages two and under free. Mill tours, free. Isaac Ludwig Mill June through August Wednesday - Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekends Noon to 5 p.m."

Farnsworth Metropark

8505 S River Rd
Waterville, OH 43566

"Farnsworth, in Waterville, is a narrow park along the Maumee River overlooking Missionary, Butler and Indian islands, which are owned by the Ohio Division of Wildlife. The park is at one end of the Towpath Trail and has a boat launch and fishing access. The Interurban Bridge, which crosses the river at Farnsworth, is partially built atop Roche de Bout, a large, protruding rock in the river that served as an early landmark for native people, European explorers and armies. The abandoned span, once the world’s largest earth-filled, concrete reinforced bridge, was part of a commuter railway system. The Bowling Green Fault, a geological feature unique to the Great Lakes region, passes through Farnsworth. The 100-mile-long fault, which runs from south of Findlay into southern Michigan, is exposed at the Maumee River when the water is low. A fault, sometimes associated with earthquakes, is a fracture in a rock formation along which some type of movement has occurred."

Parks:

Oak Openings Park - Parks - Oak Openings Park, US

Oak Openings Park

Oak Openings Park
, US

"Prickly-pear cactus, wild lupine and sand cherry bloom atop dry, hot sand dunes just yards away from orchids growing in low, wet swales. Such contrasts are what make the Oak Openings Region the subject of endless fascination for naturalists. The richly diverse area west of Toledo is built on a clay foundation and covered by wind-swept sand. It is home to Lark sparrows and Karner blue butterflies – at least 180 rare species in all, more than any other region its size in Ohio. Badgers make their home in the sand, too. Oak Openings Preserve, the largest Metropark, takes its name from the surrounding region, which is 23 times larger than the preserve. Wildwood Preserve and Secor Metroparks, the Maumee State Forest, two state nature preserves and a preserve owned by The Nature Conservancy are also located in the sandy region, forming a green ribbon through the Toledo area’s most unique natural area. Oak Openings is a birder's paradise. It is the nesting place of bluebirds, indigo buntings, whippoorwills and many other species, as well as an excellent location to see migrating songbirds in the spring. More than 50 miles of trails and fire lanes in the preserve make it easy to explore the variety of habitats that make up the Oak Openings Region, which The Nature Conservancy lists among the 200 “Last Great Places on Earth.” The Buehner Center for the Oak Openings is an interactive nature center featuring displays designed to illustrate the formation and unique features of the Oak Openings Region."

Parks:

Side Cut Metropark - Parks - 1025 River Rd, Maumee, OH, United States

Side Cut Metropark

1025 River Rd
Maumee, OH, United States

"Side Cut, the first Metropark, is named for the former "side cut" extension of the Miami and Erie Canal that connected the main line of the canal with the city of Maumee. Three of the six original locks from the canal system are preserved. In spring, Side Cut is a destination for fishermen from around the country as walleye swim upriver to cast their eggs over the protective cobblestone below the rapids. When the eggs hatch, the young fish are washed out into Lake Erie. The spawn, or "spring run," is the largest of its kind on the Great Lakes. Just as the walleye are moving out, white bass move in to spawn. The flat rocks that extend into the river between Maumee and Waterville are known as the Maumee River Ledges. Ledges are a rare form of a little-known habitat called an alvar, found in only a handful of places on the Great Lakes. Side Cut has a 15-passenger tram used for group programs and weekly nature tours in the summer. A Window new Wildlife overlooks a wooded ravine and historic locks."
