Beaches:
Cooper's Beach
248 Meadow LnSouthampton, NY 11968
(631) 287-3450
"This is supposedly one of the best beaches in the country. Though it is convenient and very beautiful, personally we'd rather bring our own lunch and go to Tiana, but if you're in the area you can stop here if you feel so inclined. The parking lot is always fully packed on beautiful summer days. They have a concession stand with lots of great food and cold drinks, bathrooms, lifeguards on duty, and they rent beach umbrellas and chairs. This beach is more expensive to park at than any of the other area beaches, but that's because the area is so upscale and classy. From here you will be able to see some of the multi million dollar seaside mansions, some of which are only vacation homes!"
Beaches:
Montauk Point County Park
Montauk Point County ParkMontauk, NY
"If a scenic hike is what you're looking for, it's worth the trip to Montauk Point County Park, where the views overlook the Atlantic Ocean, Block Island Sound, and Montauk Lake. IMPORTANT things to bring: a backpack, bug repellent (for ticks and mosquitoes), sunscreen, sunglasses or a hat, comfortable sneakers or hiking shoes, bottled water, and food. You might want to bring a towel and swimsuit just in case the opportunity to swim presents itself."
Beaches:
Orient Beach State Park
Route 25Orient, NY
(631) 323-2440
"This is at the very end of the North Fork. The beach has a large swimming area with lifeguards on duty, playground, picnic area and bbq grills. You can hike along 2 different trails, rent bikes and tackle the bike path, buy food and gifts, and use the bathrooms and showers. They also rent kayaks and have places to play various sports."
Beaches:
Tiana Beach
90 Dune RoadHampton Bays, NY
(631) 653-5934
"If you want to go to an ocean beach, we recommend here. They have lifeguards on duty, bathrooms, and volleyball nets. Essential things to bring: towels, food and drinks (they don't serve any, and don't like alcohol here), sunscreen, change of clothing. They charge for parking, which is how it is all over the Hamptons. They close their gates around 5 or 6pm. Neptune's Beach Club is right next to (well, technically on) Tiana Beach. For the price of the club though, you might be better off just setting up your towels where you can hear the music."

"This is a daytime bar that has the absolute cheapest beer you can find, and the locals go here simply to have fun and get drunk. TWO WARNINGS: 1. words cannot express how MESSY this place can get! Do not dress nicely - wear clothing and closed toe shoes you do not care about at all, because people are going to spill beer (and probably other liquids) on you, and you are going to step in beer (and probably other liquids, again). and 2. DO NOT under any circumstances tell people it is your first time there or you WILL get beer dumped on you!"

"It's a nice little bar in the middle of Greenport. During the day the restaurant has great food, a tiny bit pricey, but worth it. (Right next door is a bar called Whiskey Wind, which is a redneck bar. Whiskey Wind has a pool table and darts, but the atmosphere is not the greatest.)"
Night Clubs:
Beach Bar

We've never been there during the day, but at night it is a covered outdoor bar (they keep the walls open if it's nice out) with a dance floor, and they often have live music. There is a cover charge of around $10."
Night Clubs:
Neptune's Beach Club
70 Dune RoadEast Quogue, NY
(631) 653-8737
"This place is night club meets beach party. Day or night, there is always something happening here. Hot music, lots of dancing, bars indoors and out. You won't be paying less than $20 cover charge (we have seen them charge up to $40 a person depending on how busy they are), and the drinks are not cheap either. At night it becomes known as "The Drift", and the prices are the same, but you will be waiting in line for an hour or 2 or maybe more."
