Restaurants, Bars & Sight Seeing

City Market
303 Blake St
Raleigh, NC, USA
(919) 832-9300

The cobblestone streets of City Market, lined with restaurants, bars, galleries and specialty boutiques, is picturesque enough on any given day. But on the first Friday of each month, as the sun goes down and the streetlamps light up, this small square block comes alive in a way that would make anyone want to become a regular. On these evenings, the shops and galleries stay open late (until around 9PM) and host artists receptions with hors d'oeuvres and wine. The largest crowd hovers around Artspace, where dozens of artists have their studios and can be found either working there or just conversing with guests about their pieces. May 4th is the first Friday of the month.
