Response from the couple:
Our wedding reception at the Myth was beautiful. The ambiance of the room was amazing with lots of candles and the white lights that are on the rafters. Overall the staff was very helpful in the planning stages, however we were somewhat disappointed with the aftermath...we had an agreement with the staff that we would not have to do any of the clean-up after the reception and that the staff would clean everything up and would pack all of our personal decorations (e.g. glass mirrors, candles, glass bowls, etc.) back in the boxes so that my mom could pick them up on Monday (reception was on Sat. night). However, when my mom arrived on Monday at the agreed time, the entire room had not been cleaned up, and my mom ended up taking all our decorations off the tables and packing them up all by herself. We were not happy, especially because this job was in the price that we paid for the room. That was really the only major problem we had with just a few minor things like the manager telling us she would box some of the appetizers for us and set them aside for us to take with us after the reception (since we weren't there yet when they were served at the beginning) but this didn't happen. And I thought that were also told that as the bride and groom we would be allowed whatever type of drink we wanted, including liquor (even though our bar was just a beer and wine bar) but when I asked for a mixed drink during the reception, they were going to charge me and this made me kind of mad...I was the bride after all! However the rest of the experience was VERY positive. The food was awesome. We had champagne chicken, bistro style roast beef and we also had a kids menu (which consisted of chicken fingers and french fries and was very nice because we got to pay a discounted rate for the kids). We got lots of compliments about the food, which we were initially worried about because they do not allow you to taste test ahead of time. As the bride, I loved having the private dressing room all to myself (with my bridesmaids of course) and it made me feel extra special to have my own private room! The staff allowed us to bring in our own extra desserts, in addition to the wedding cake (e.g. cookies, etc.), as well as our own snacks for our guests late in the evening, and the staff set all this stuff up for us at the appropriate times during the night, all we had to do was bring it in ahead of time. I think that overall, it was a good experience, although it was slightly tarnished with the clean-up problem afterward. I would recommend this place to a friend though. Let me know if you have any more questions...I know it is a big decision (it's your wedding after all!) and I know I would have liked any help I could get when I was planning!
