Dance Instruction

Dabe Murphy and Janelle Johnson
Catonsville, MD, USA

Besides being great friends, Dabe and Janelle are awesome swing dance instructors and helped guests of ours who were not dancers feel more comfortable. We heard lots of great reviews about their lesson. We scheduled the dance instruction for our guests while we were taking pictures so no one had to be bored waiting around for us to make a grand entrance.

Cakes/Candies

Sugar Bakers
752 Frederick Rd # 2
Catonsville, MD, United States

Despite all of the fawning reviews our experience of Sugar Bakers was quite negative. They were rather rude when we didn't "confirm" our scheduled tasting appointment, although no one told us that we needed to confirm it when we initially scheduled it. Thus, when we showed up, we were informed that it had been canceled because it wasn't confirmed. When we did go for the rescheduled tasting, I was taken aback by the oily residue left in my mouth from the icing. The cakes may be decently pretty, but if you care about flavor, I wouldn't recommend it. Also, the staff is a bit smug with their status as a well-known desirable baker.

Good tasting cake. Arrived on time. Had requested a monogram on the cake in icing and it just looked really messy and poor. If you can't execute a design well just tell me so I can request something else. A very good value though.

Ceremony

Church
1400 Frederick Road
Catonsville, MD 21228, US
410-747-6180

Wonderful. The church was very supportive and accommodating. I did have to be very consistent in following up with the staff to get questions answered, especially when the wedding was months out because weddings aren't something that they do super often, I don't think.

Hotel

Hampton Inn Arundel Mills
7027 Arundel Mills Cir
Anne Arundel, MD 21076, US

This Hampton Inn was really great leading up to the event but they misfired once it occurred. Some of my guests didn't get their welcome bags and had to ask for them. Additionally, although a handicapped accessible room had been requested in person for an elderly family member, the request was not honored. I would not select this hotel again.

Restaurant

Arundel Mills Mall
7000 Arundel Mills Cir
Anne Arundel, MD 21076, US

Surrounded by restaurants, this outlet mall offers a myriad of shopping options and a multiplex theater.

Attraction

Baltimore's Inner Harbor

The most popular tourist attraction in Baltimore, the Inner Harbor offers shopping, entertainment, and dining within walking distance.

Hampden

The home of John Walters and quirky shops galore, Hampden and the row of shops along The Avenue (W 36th St.) promise a half-day of fun. Susanne adores the food at Golden West, although the service is only slightly faster than molasses.

Mount Vernon Neighborhood

Baltimore, also known as "Charm City," puts some of those charms on display in the Mount Vernon neighborhood. Craig and Susanne especially recommend checking out the Walter's Art Museum, Iggie's Restaurant, and Brewer's Art Pub.
