Burnham Plaza Mart

This is the closest "quickie mart" type place, in case you need some supplies or groceries.

East Bank Club

East Bank does a very nice job. A few details were not ideal (temperature not regulated well, timing of dessert course off, huge logs of goat cheese instead of crumbles on the spinach salad), and I would have expected they'd catch that sort of thing, but all in all the service, food, and amenities are top-notch here.

Hilton -- Chicago Downtown

It's huge, so you walk a long way to your very small room, and not that well-located unless you're going to hang out around the Museum Campus / Art Institute / Grant Park. I wish I'd booked a smaller hotel (even at higher rates) in River North or along the Mag Mile.

Hyde Park Art Center

Excellent place for a gathering, light-filled and open.

Artists' Cafe

Breakfast/lunch spot in the historic Fine Arts Building that offers some outdoor sidewalk seating. Note -- apparently the only credit card they accept is American Express.

Burger King

Gotta have something fast and familiar? Okay, here's your fix.

Caffe Baci

Good place for breakfast or lunch!

Caribou Coffee

The hotel rooms have coffee makers, but if you'd prefer a little coffee shop where you can get a latte or cup of tea and also get a bite to eat, this would be a good choice.

Giordano's

Get your fix of famous Chicago stuffed pizza here.

Jimmy John's Gourmet Subs

Good sandwiches here if you are looking to avoid room service at lunchtime!

Orange

This is the second location of the Wrigleyville favorite. Expect a wait here at popular breakfast times. They are known for their innovative and creative dishes (including fruit sushi). Fantastic custom freshly squeezed juices!

Oysy

This sushi restaurant is just a block and half south of the hotel and also offers tempura dishes.
