Chicago Wedding In June
Chicago, IL, USA, June, 2007
"We actually got married in Kauai, Hawaii, but celebrated with family & friends in Chicago. It was hot, hot, hot! You never know what you'll get around here weather-wise... Chicago has a lot to offer, but can be hard for suburbanites to "figure out", and is quite expensive."

Grocery Store
Burnham Plaza Mart
828 S Wabash AveChicago, IL 60605, US
This is the closest "quickie mart" type place, in case you need some supplies or groceries.
Reception
East Bank Club
500 N Kingsbury StChicago, IL, USA
(312) 527-5800
East Bank does a very nice job. A few details were not ideal (temperature not regulated well, timing of dessert course off, huge logs of goat cheese instead of crumbles on the spinach salad), and I would have expected they'd catch that sort of thing, but all in all the service, food, and amenities are top-notch here.
Hotel
Hilton -- Chicago Downtown
720 South Michigan AvenueChicago, IL, USA
(312) 922-4400
It's huge, so you walk a long way to your very small room, and not that well-located unless you're going to hang out around the Museum Campus / Art Institute / Grant Park. I wish I'd booked a smaller hotel (even at higher rates) in River North or along the Mag Mile.
Shower
Hyde Park Art Center
5020 S Cornell AveChicago, IL, USA
(773) 324-5520
Excellent place for a gathering, light-filled and open.
Restaurant
Artists' Cafe
412 S Michigan AveChicago, IL, USA
(312) 939-7855
Breakfast/lunch spot in the historic Fine Arts Building that offers some outdoor sidewalk seating. Note -- apparently the only credit card they accept is American Express.
Burger King
500 S State StChicago, IL, USA
(312) 786-9577
Gotta have something fast and familiar? Okay, here's your fix.
Caribou Coffee
800 S Wabash AveChicago, IL 60605, US
The hotel rooms have coffee makers, but if you'd prefer a little coffee shop where you can get a latte or cup of tea and also get a bite to eat, this would be a good choice.
Jimmy John's Gourmet Subs
725 S State StChicago, IL 60605, US
Good sandwiches here if you are looking to avoid room service at lunchtime!
Orange
75 W Harrison StChicago, IL, USA
(312) 447-1000
This is the second location of the Wrigleyville favorite. Expect a wait here at popular breakfast times. They are known for their innovative and creative dishes (including fruit sushi). Fantastic custom freshly squeezed juices!
Oysy
888 S Michigan AveChicago, IL 60605, US
This sushi restaurant is just a block and half south of the hotel and also offers tempura dishes.
