We were a little nervous at first planning from out of town, but having am awesome wedding planner and a map service like this made all the difference! It took a LOT of planning and was a little stressful towards the end, but we had a wonderful time and in the end so did our guests..."

Question:
Hello,

I am looking at having my wedding at Cantigny also. I was wondering what you thought of the reception area. Was there enough room or did it seem cramped? Did they have to move any tables off the dance floor before the dancing could start? I have been to the restaurant there and I am just having a hard time visualizing how it would look for a reception.

Hi Teri!

Be happy to help! We had 120ish people I think that attended and we had plenty of room. Just about everyone attended the ceremony in the main visitor center and it also seemed to be a good fit. All tables were off the dance floor the entire time, so no need to move anything for our group.

Our planner was Denise with Weddings By Denise and she did an awesome job interacting with the staff at Cantigny to make sure everything was set up...it was GREAT! I don't think we took any overall pics of the room when it was set up for the reception, but Megan might? She's the woman who helped us with everything for our wedding at Cantigny...they were also AWESOME!

Our guests could not stop talking about the great food...and that was a big thing for us to have great food! *8)

Let me know if you have any more questions, I'd be happy to tell you whatever I can! Our decorator lady was also amazing...she really helped to pull it all together without having to spend major $$ on flowers.

Thank you so much for your response! It helps a lot and got me even more excited about having my wedding at Cantigny!

One other quick question, during your ceremony did you have any random onlookers? People that just happened to be at Cantigy that day and decided to watch? Just curious.

Hi Teri,

No onlookers that we were aware of...*8) There were some people who looked on while the decorator was setting up and a couple came by (our wedding planner asked if it was okay) to see how the room was set up for the ceremony. We started our cermony at 5:30pm so the visitor's center was basically closed and the place was pretty much all ours!

We had Chicken Vesuvio and the Prime Rib...they were both yummy...and our guests are still talking about it! The cake was really good too, moist, fresh and beautiful!

"We had our wedding in the Visitor's center and used a decorator to help spruce things up. When they were done, it looked great! You don't need a mic and we had about 110 seated guests and everyone fit with room to spare! We had hoped to have the wedding outside, but April is so touch and go. We decided to save ourselves the headache and just stayed inside...it worked out great!"

"Very accommodating and helpful! Would definitely recommend them to anyone with a large group. They have lots of functions there and in peak season it may be a little tough...but we had about 40 people staying there for a wedding in April. The shuttles are awesome, just make sure to reserve in advance."
