"Most of our stuff was DIY...you know, cheaper and all. But we also had to do DIY, as we had a very non-traditional wedding. It isn't every day that your officiant is attacking you with a baseball bat or a guest runs up to you with a chainsaw. But, that is what we had. Hard Labor is a gorgeous spot, and secluded enough that we had to use it for the glorious wedding...of course, we opted for a zombie wedding. It was great fun, every one had a laugh (mostly at our expense) and no one was offended. Yes people, IT WAS a wedding. Just because we had a few jokes in the ceremony, and just because we dressed a might bit unconventional, it was still a wedding. And today, I am happily and newly married to the man of my dreams, the father of my child, and the best friend I have ever had these past 6 years. I love Hard Labor...even if you are not having a wedding such as ours, the beauty of the area and the solitude is simply superb. It helps that the staff was beyond helpful and wonderfully nice."

"LOVE LOVE LOVE Hard Labor Creek State Park! The staff was super friendly and willing to work with us. We stayed in cabins the night before the wedding and the night of, and I must say, those are REALLY nice cabins for the amount of $$ you pay. We utilized Group Shelter # 1 for our venue. The field out in front was large enough, and the weather just perfect, that we were able to have the wedding outside and the reception in the group shelter. If you go that route, bring your own chairs, the group shelter only has 120 chairs. Also, be aware of the uninvited guests...the two turkey hens that followed us around all day! :-)"
