Question:
You did your catering at the Casino?

Response from the couple:
Barbara Jeans Restaurants did our catering.

Question:
You said that you timed your ceremony to be around sunset. What time was that exactly? Thank you.

Response from the couple:
Actually, we timed it so that the sunset would occur towards the end of our reception. Our wedding was at 4:30 (about 10 minutes of ceremony) and our reception went from 5-8. If I recall correctly, the sunset was around 7:20 or so.

You can also go to sites like weather.com to find out when the sunset is for your particular date.

We are getting married August 9th at 7pm. Hopefully, we will be able to have the sunset just as the ceremony is ending. GREAT picture op! Thank you for writing back.

Congratulations! Are you having a quick or long ceremony? The sunset time for that day is 8:14 (http://aa.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/aa_pap.pl). Of course, it will start setting before then, which is when some of our best pictures were taken.

Our ceremony is at 7 and will last about 15 minutes. We will be taking pictures around 730ish, so I guess that will work out great. Thank you for taking the time to look that up. :o)

Question:
Two questions for you! One we are getting married on the island October 10, and I am somewhat worried about the weather, cause obviously it can go either way. Cool and lovely or hot and humid! How was the weather for y'alls day? Also, we are thinking about using Corn Eyed Trout for the wedding reception, some of their music on their facebook doesn't sound so hot, how are they live? We are having a backyard ceremony and reception, and we just want all our guests to have a lot of fun. Were they fun? Thanks so much for your help!!!

Congrats! The weather for our ceremony was absolutely perfect. I was afraid it might be a little warm, but it wasn't at all. We took photos before the wedding and I didn't get hot at all (I was worried about being all sweaty for the actual ceremony!).

Corn Eyed Trout is fabulous. We only used them for the ceremony, but if we could have done it differently, they would have been there the whole time. If you are you local, you can see them live on most weekends at some venue on the Island or Wednesday nights at Skippers in Darien. The newspaper lists where live music is for the weekends on Fridays.

I have to warn you, they are a little laid back. That part worried me a little bit, but they did everything just as they said they would. We had TONS of complements on their playing from our guests.

Miranda, I have appointments for my hair and makeup and that of all my bridesmaids at A New Horizon, but after reading your post about not being ecstatic with your hair/makeup from there, i'm kinda worried. Should I look for something else?

No I wouldn't. I was happy with what they did...I just like my new hairdresser that much more. Many guests complemented me on hair and makeup. Just make sure to do a run through and speak up if there is something you don't like.

Question:
I love this wedding location! Who did your catering? Did the venue set up chairs for you, or did you have to do it yourself?

Barbara Jeans did our catering. The venue provided the chairs for the reception, but we had to rent the chairs for the ceremony. We set it up ourselves.
