Ghost Tours of Key West
423 Fleming StKey West, FL 33040, US
"Tour starts at the La Concha Hotel"
Attraction:
Key West Aquarium
1 Whitehead StKey West, FL, United States
"Perhaps one of the most unique aquariums in the world, the Key West Aquarium has delighted visitors since 1934. Come join us and see for yourself the beautiful indigenous sea-creatures of Key West and the Florida Keys"
Attraction:
Key West Cemetery
701 Passover LnKey West, FL, United States
"Key West's historic 1847 Cemetery is located in the "dead" center of Old Town, bounded by Angela, Margaret, Passover Lane (appropriately named), Frances and Olivia. Moved to higher ground after the 1847 hurricane disinterred bodies from the first burial ground near the Southernmost Point, the whitewashed above-ground tombs and statues are fascinating. A stroll through this historic graveyard can tell as much about Key West's quirky character as any history lesson."
Attraction:
Key West Shipwreck Historeum
1 Whitehead StKey West, FL 33040, US
"Join master wrecker Asa Tift and his wrecking crew as he tells you the story of how this unusual industry provided for the livelihoods of the early pioneers of Key West. You will be invited to climb the 65' lookout tower and if need be, alarm Mr. Tift of any wrecks on the reef! Learn more about the wrecking industry and what Key West once was by clicking on the links above."
Attraction:
Mallory Square
"Mallory Square lies at the heart of Key West's historic waterfront. Named after Key West bigwig Stephen Mallory, whose claim to fame was being appointed Confederate Secretary of the Navy (a title grander than the fleet), the square's chief naval function is to load and offload enormous cruise ships, which dock there almost daily. Bordering it are historic buildings that once supported the local maritime industry, now restored and occupied by various shops and restaurants. Though the square offers attractions galore, its real draw is provided by Mother Nature--gorgeous, spectacular sunsets. The nightly Sunset Celebration is a loosely organized carnival of artists, performers, food purveyors and assorted craftspeople that could only happen in Key West. In addition to eateries and shops selling everything from sponges to cigars, Mallory Square is also home to the Key West Aquarium, Key West Historical Memorial Sculpture Garden and Key West Shipwreck Historeum."
Attraction:
Southernmost Point in the USA
"This marker, actually built to resemble a buoy, stands at furthest south tip of Key West. The monument notes that Cuba is only 90 miles away, and just to its right, a plaque commemorates the brave Cubans who have drowned trying to get to America, "The Leader In Democracy." In the blocks around the Monument are numerous other "Southernmosts""
