"Our wedding was great but getting married in the Bay Area can be expensive. The weather was perfect for our late afternoon ceremony in June. "

Ceremony

Rengstorff House
3070 N Shoreline Blvd

The Rengstorff House is a beautiful place to hold the ceremony and was well worth the $600 to rent it. My only word of warning is that Rekka, the woman who runs the house rentals is not very forthcoming. We understood that she would be available the day of the wedding to make sure that everything went smoothly but she never showed up and we had to track someone down to unlock the house for us as I (the bride) arrived for the ceremony. She wasn't any help so if you decide to go with the Rengstorff House make sure you have someone else to rely on the day of your wedding so that your day moves smoothly. I gave this site 4 stars because of Rekka but the site itself is definitely 5 stars.

Reception

Michaels at Shoreline Restaurant

I am so glad that my mom suggested Michael’s for our reception it was perfect! Carol, the event organizer for Michael’s was wonderful to work with and I never once worried about the location. The wedding packages that are available are outstanding because they include all the flowers, cake, punch and champagne for the reception. The food quality and flavor was beyond anything that I have tasted at a standard wedding and the portions are VERY generous. We selected the chicken piccata, salmon and fillet mignon and all were cooked perfectly and nothing was dry. They pay attention to all the dishes and take care not to cook the food and have it sit under warming lights. Carol was easy to communicate with and they even set up the site for us, including favors and my whole candy buffet. Our reception was perfect and I can’t say enough about Michael’s, I would suggest this site without hesitating!

Very affordable considering the location, it is right down the street from Stanford University and shopping center, not to mention downtown Palo Alto. We were able to get a group rate of $99/night which is very competitive for the area. The hotel rooms are very nice and the hotel is kept clean and presentable.

This hotel would have gotten 5 stars but we had told them that it was our wedding night and they didn't even give us a bottle of champagne in our room...nothing. When I had mentioned it to them the next morning they said oh, congratulations and that was it. I would have thought that a hotel where you pay upwards of $400/night they would at least do something for our wedding night. Otherwise, the hotel is very nice and the rooms/suites are definitely up to the standards of a luxury hotel.
