Old Salem:
Old Salem - Candle Tea
900 Old Salem RdWinston-Salem, NC 27101, US
"The Candle Tea, regarded by many as the opening event of the Christmas season in Winston-Salem, will again be held in the historic Single Brothers' House on Salem Square, which was built in 1769. Guests are greeted by hosts in early Moravian costumes and are guided through the Chapel for singing Christmas carols, the dining room where beeswax candles are being made, the kitchen where sugar cake and coffee are being served, and the two rooms in the sub-basement where the Putz is on display. (The word "putz" is of Germanic origin and means "to decorate".) The two sections of the Putz include a replica of Salem as it would have appeared in the early 1900’s. The Nativity scene displays for us the birth of the Christ Child."
Festival of Lights:
Tanglewood Park - Festival of Lights
4061 Clemmons RdClemmons, NC 27012, US
"Tanglewood Park is pleased to once again present the annual Festival of Lights beginning November 10, 2007 through January 1, 2008. We will transform our rolling countryside into a winter wonderland of giant snowflakes and whimsical scenes. After fifteen seasons, Tanglewood Festival of Lights continues to be one of the largest and most spectacular light shows in the southeast. From storybook scenes to Holiday themes, over one hundred displays with nearly a million lights fill Tanglewood Park with the entire splendor and joy of the holiday season."
