BEN & TONI'S WEDDING
June, 2010 in Hays"Our wedding turned out near perfect! We had amazing vendors here in Hays, KS to help make our day so wonderful -- weddingmapper, our photographers, videographer, cooks, DJ, florist and lovely friends & family who pitched in to help were all fantastic. There aren't many options in a small town like Hays for anything too fancy, but we had the resources to look elsewhere and we ended up making almost everything ourselves, which many guests were impressed with!"

Cakes/Candies Vendor:
Rosie Leiker
Munjor, KS, USA"Rosie Leiker of Munjor, KS baked our wedding cake for us and also prepared homemade mints for us, which were amazing. She is very traditional and old-fashioned, but when my husband and I brought her our own photos of ideas, she did everything 100% how we had hoped and was more than happy to do so. The detailing of our frosting was impeccable and our guests commented on how delicious and fresh the cake tasted! Our cake was square-shaped and she was able to track down a square cake holder -- each layer alternated between vanilla and chocolate and the frosting was butter cream. It was FANTASTIC!"
Caterer:
American Legion
Hays, KS, United States"Our reception site catered our wedding meal. Though you could only choose between the standard ham, turkey or roast beef, the roast beef and side dishes tasted fantastic and guests got their food quickly. They served the head table themselves, which was another bonus. It was very hard getting ahold of this venue whenever we had questions or concerns, which was very unfortunate, but the food, itself, was fine. We had roast beef, chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes & beef gravy, buttered corn, tossed salad and fresh dinner rolls with butter."
Ceremony Musician:
St. Joseph Church
210 West 13th StreetHays, KS, United States
"If you choose to get married at St. Joseph, Kevin Rupp will more than likely be your organist, as he is the church's office and music manager. He does a great job. He is very quick and to the point when you meet with him to choose your music, but he plays beautifully. Renee Michaud of Hays, KS does much work with St. Joseph and she was our chosen vocalist, as she is a family friend of my husband's. She sang like an angel and we recommend her to anyone in this area!"
DJ:
Complete Music
Hays, KS, United States"Our DJ was the manager of Complete Music, Scott Kerns. He did PERFECT at our wedding. We had numerous guests comment on how entertaining and fun Scott was. He got the guests sitting involved and out on the dance floor and he, himself, came out and did line dances with us. He was fantastic!"
Florist:
Flowers by Frances
2424 Vine StreetHays, KS, United States
"Flowers by Frances is our personal favorite in town. It's a family-owned business and it seems as though they never miss a beat. Our colors were complicated, and they still made it work by finding and ordering a couple of more rare flowers just for our occasion. The pricing is definitely fair compared to other resources and their options are wide open! We highly recommend Flowers by Frances!"
Honeymoon Vendor:
Magnolia Hotel
818 17th StreetDenver, CO, United States
"The Magnolia Hotel in downtown Denver, CO was amazing. They make you feel like a star when you arrive and throughout your whole stay. We strongly recommend this hotel for any trip you take to Denver, CO. We went to Denver, as we are saving up for our first home and needed somewhere easy to drive to, yet fun, and we were surprised by how many great things there were to do there! We went to Comedy Works downtown, as well as several museums and shops and had a blast. We recommend dining at Maggiano's Italian Restaurant downtown, as well!"
Invitations Vendor:
Paper and More
Chino Hills, CA, USA"Again, we created the invitations almost from scratch ourselves, but would've been completely lost without Paper and More! Again, our colors were somewhat complex, but they have SO many color options that we were actually able to find EXACT matches of what we needed. The options are endless on this website. We had pocketfold invitations with information in the middle and tabs of information stacked on the far right pocket. The paper was sparkly and absolutely beautiful -- thick enough to be strong when doing much gluing. HIGHLY recommend Paper and More for any wedding projects, invitations, signs, etc!"
Registry Vendor:
Bed Bath & Beyond
3050 Beeline RoadHolland, MI, United States
"We used Walmart of Hays, KS and Bed, Bath & Beyond of Overland Park, KS. Can't go wrong with these two -- many options for people in small or big towns and everything went as planned! Bed Bath & Beyond is wonderful and provides some really neat extra services when you go inside to set everything up! My favorite store!"
Rentals Vendor:
Grand Rental Station
2810 West Washington StreetStephenville, TX, United States
"We rented a projector and huge screen from Grand Rental Station for our videographer to play our DVD slideshow for our guests after dinner before kicking off our dance. They have SO many different items to rent -- the pricing is pretty good and they only ask that you bring it back that following Monday. Great people!"
Tuxedo Vendor:
Master Cleaner's
200 West 8th StreetHays, KS, United States
"You can't go wrong with Master Cleaner's in Hays. We struggled greatly to find vests that would match the bridesmaid dresses in Hays. We had no luck at two wedding shops in town and their service was weak, but we walked into Master Cleaner's and they had MANY more color options, great service and were very prompt. All orders came in right for our men involved in the ceremony except the shoes were tighter than expected and one color of shirt was off, which they immediately fixed for us. They had back-ups of everything in the store and did great work for us!"
Videographer:
Cooley Productions
Hays, KS, United States"Again, Cooley Productions' Brandon Cooley was our videographer and he was one of our very best wedding vendors! He was so flexible in meeting with us and helped us choose the best video package for us. He stayed much later than he generally does and got our DVDs, slideshows and all extra copies done before we even got home from our honeymoon -- AMAZING work. His DVDs and slideshows are FANTASTIC and our family and friends were so impressed by his kindness and work!"
Wedding Day Beauty Vendor:
Main Street Salon
1313 Main StreetHays, KS, United States
"My husband & his family have gone here for years to get their haircuts. We had Amy and Tammy do my hair, the mother of the bride & groom's hair, and my bridesmaids' hair. They did excellent -- they knew what the girls were wanting and allowed them to make it creative. They were flexible and are always so much fun. They're great ladies and we strongly recommend them to anyone! Pricing is AMAZING here -- can't get any better than this!"
Wedding Fashion Vendor:
Payless Shoes
2914 Vine StreetHays, KS, United States
"The bridesmaid's and flower girl's shoes were all purchased from Payless Shoes in our Hays, KS mall. We thought we'd have to go out of town for some nice dress shoes, but Payless had a new stock of shoes that you could have dyed in a color from their many, many options. The color was perfect and the shoes shipped to us in just about a week -- great serviced, excellent prices and they were gorgeous and comfortable! You can even make the order for colorized dress shoes online at their website, which was handy when I needed an extra pair in a short amount of time!"
Wedding Fashion Vendor:
Cupid's Corner
107 East 27th StreetHays, KS, United States
"My bridesmaids wore dresses that we had picked out and ordered from a dress shop here in Hays called Cupid's Corner. We were impressed with the dress style and color options available and got everything ordered quite early, but as we would order extra fabric or shoes, Cupid's Corner failed to call us almost every time we had a product ship in. Their service was less than impressive, but the dresses were absolutely gorgeous and we were happy that we could order our own material in a matching color for a family friend to sew for the flower girls."
Wedding Fashion Vendor:
A Bride's World
2514 Vine StreetHays, KS, United States
"My bridal gown was purchased at A Bride's World in the Centennial Mall of Hays. The service was decent and the dress options are pretty great for a small town. I also ordered my shoes here toward the very end when we were crunched for time -- they ended up being too big, but the shop was able to replace them quickly, lucky for me! Their options for bridesmaid dresses weren't too terrific, but I'd recommend them for a bride! My veil and tiara were also purchased here and they were beautiful. Not many options for tiaras at all, but we had little time left and I was able to find one that I thought was nice! My garter and jewelry were purchased through vintage online shops!"
Wedding Fashion Vendor:
Etsy.com
Hays, KS, USA"Our groomsmen were given personalized cufflinks that we had special-made from etsy.com -- Etsy is a vintage site with endless possibilities. My bridal jewelry was vintage and purchased here, as well, as were a few of the personalized gifts we gave to our wedding party! Etsy is great!"
Ceremony:
St. Joseph Catholic Church
212 W 13th StHays, KS 67601
"We attend this church, so we may be a bit biased, but it is honestly the most beautiful church in town. Our priest (Fr. Gilmary) and church coordinator (Jane Vanek) are wonderful people who were so flexible and helpful throughout our planning process for getting married in the Catholic church!"
Reception:
American Legion
1305 Canterbury DrHays, KS, United States
"Great and large facility for a wedding reception. The only problem was that we were only allotted an hour or two late the night before the wedding to set everything up and that was frankly not nearly enough time. Otherwise, the food was great and the management was relatively flexible with our ideas."
Hotel:
Ramada Inn
3603 Vine StreetHays, KS, United States
"For the most part, our guests enjoyed their stay due to their kids loving the huge water slide and pool. Otherwise, we would've had them stay somewhere else because of the reviews this hotel has been getting over the past year. http://www.ramada.com/Ramada/control/Booking/property_info?propertyId=32396"
Restaurant:
Gella's Diner & Brewery
117 East 11th StreetHays, Kansas
"This is a Hays favorite that just opened a handful of years ago. Gella's has the most creative and unique dishes and drinks in all of Hays. It was also the location of Toni & Ben's first date. They recommend the fried bologna panini or fork & knife cobb salad :)"
Restaurant:
Gutch's Bar & Grill
109 West 7th StreetHays, KS, United States
"One of our favorite restaurants best known for it's woodfire pizzas and delicious pastas!"
