AIMEE AND NATHAN'S WEDDING
October, 2011 in Pittsburgh"Our wedding was beautiful, classy, and fun! Getting married in downtown Pittsburgh was perfect - all of our out-of-town guests were SO impressed with the city. Columbus Day weekend is a lovely time of year for a Pittsburgh wedding. All of our vendors did a truly amazing job and made our day so special. Wedding Mapper was a great resource for us to share with our many out-of-town guests. And it was fun for us to put together our wedding map as well. We'd highly recommend using it!"

Band:
Boilermaker Jazz Band
Pittsburgh, PA, USA"The Boilermakers ROCK! Everyone (young adults, parents, grandparents, children) had an amazing time dancing at our wedding reception. If you are looking for fun, upbeat, and classy music for your reception, the Boilermakers are DEFINITELY for you! Paul did a fantastic job announcing everyone and making sure the guests knew when special dances and cake cutting took place. Also, we were suprised to find out that they are MUCH less expensive than those "entertainment company wedding bands" - I very very very highly recommend. They are fantastic and if you like the style of their music, you will NOT be disappointed!"
Ceremony Musician:
Steven Vance Strolling Violins

"My husband worked with Sarah and a string quartet from Steven Vance to provide lovely music for our ceremony and cocktail hour. They were extremely professional and helpful in selecting appropriate music for both parts of the evening. The music was beautiful and definitely added a wonderful touch to our classy and elegant wedding celebration. We also found their prices to be quite reasonable. I highly recommend!"
Florist:
Fragile Paradise, LLC
813 Liberty AvenuePittsburgh, PA, United States
"Working with Megan was an absolute joy. From the moment we first met with her, she was very professional and friendly and more than willing to work with our modest budget. She got us involved in helping to choose flowers for our arrangements, bouquets, etc and did an amazing job and putting them together into gorgeous centerpieces, bouquets, and boutinieres. Many of our guests commented on how lovely they thought that our flowers were. I am beyond satisfied with her services and would recommend her to any other bride."
Photographer:
Joe Appel Photography
28 Emerson AvenuePittsburgh, PA, United States
"My husband and I met with a lot of different photographers before we found Joe. We are so pleased that we chose him to photograph our wedding. He was extremely professional, and documented our day beautifully! My father-in-law (an amateur shutterbug himself) said they were the best wedding photos he's ever seen. He is an extremely talented photographer, and also a very cool guy. In addition, the quality of his albums far surpass any others I've seen. I very very highly recommend!"

We started planning our event with Greg Sgro, who sold us on the beautiful hotel and their wonderful services, and we made a completely smooth transition to working with Tony Lee, who was fantastic. We, and our guests, were very impressed by the beautiful environment the hotel provided, as well as the amazing food, and their ability to handle so much of the coordination for us. I would very highly recommend!"

Restaurant:
Primanti Brothers
46 18th StPittsburgh, PA 15222
"The original location! A BIT OF HISTORY: Back in 1934, Depression-era Pittsburgh, burly guys unloading Strip District trucks and trains at all hours stopped on 18th Street for a quick bite. Wanting something that would fil them up, they went for food they could eat with one hand and work with the other. It was the brainstorm of the Primantis to throw everything on Italian bread, including the cole slaw and the fries!"

The Strip District
Pittsburgh, PA"By night, the formerly industrial Strip District is filled with partygoers bouncing between bars and clubs. But on Saturday mornings, the parallel thoroughfares of Penn Avenue and Smallman Street (roughly between 16th and 26th Streets) are turned into a sprawling outdoor market with international food kiosks that serve Middle Eastern kebabs, Italian sausages and Greek baklava. Shop for produce, clothing and vintage knickknacks, and all things "Pittsburgh" as accordionists and mariachi bands provide a festive soundtrack."

"Home of the Pittsburgh Penguins!"
Attraction:
Duquesne Incline
Duquesne Incline, 1220 Grandview AvePittsburgh, PA 15211-4201
"The best views of Pittsburgh are from Mount Washington, and the best way to get there — or at least the most fun — is up the Duquesne Incline. One of two surviving hillside cable cars from the 1870s, it takes three minutes to climb 800 feet to Grandview Avenue. There’s a neat little history museum that has old newspaper clippings, but the real spectacle is the view of downtown Pittsburgh, where the Allegheny and Monongahela meet to form the Ohio River."
Attraction:
Monongahela Incline
Monongahela InclinePittsburgh, PA 15222
"Opened in 1870, the Monongahela Incline -- called the Mon Incline by locals -- is the oldest and steepest incline in the United States, as well as the nation's oldest cable car operation. It offers beautiful views of downtown Pittsburgh. The lower station of the Monongahela Incline is located near the Smithfield Street Bridge, and is easily accessible from Station Square and Pittsburgh's light rail system."

Museum:
Senator John Heinz History Center
1212 Smallman StPittsburgh, PA 15222
"This is actually a two-fer: the main museum is devoted to everything from the Heinz food empire to the polyglot population. The upper two floors are occupied by the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, which pays homage to the region’s rich sports heritage. It’s hard to miss the seven-story brick warehouse building; look for the giant photograph of the Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris."
Museum:
The Andy Warhol Museum
117 Sandusky StPittsburgh, PA 15212
"Over the course of his career, Pittsburgh native Andy Warhol invented pop art and blurred the lines between high-brow and the street. It's all there in blinding color at The Andy Warhol Museum, a 12,000-work permanent collection of paintings, drawings, prints, photos, sculpture, film, and videotape. With an extensive archive of period material as well as the artist's life, it makes the Warhol the world's most comprehensive single-artist museum."
