RAINA AND JERRY'S WEDDING
May, 2010 in San Diego
"Quick summary of lessons I learned:
1. Always look for a coupon code if you’re buying anything online. You can save a lot.
2. Do your research on the front end when booking vendors. If you choose the right players, you’ll have less to worry about later on.
3. Get everything in writing and remind your vendors what they promised the week of the wedding so it’s fresh in their minds.
4. Assign a bad cop for you and your groom. We chose my sister and his brother. We announced the assigned bad cops at the rehearsal dinner and designated them to handle any stress/problems on the wedding day. It was nice not to have to deal with family drama or mishaps. I just sent my “bad cop” in to clean it up!
5. Remember on your wedding day to take mental snap shots and slow down the moment whenever you can to enjoy it.
6. Don’t get mad on your wedding day, it’s not worth it. Just remember things will go wrong and IT’S OKAY if they do. It’s about your love and marrying your best friend; that’s all that matters.
7. Realize your vendors are people too. THEY ARE NOT PERFECT. There will be disappointments, and they’re going to forgot one of the several detailed instructions you gave them. Give them a break. Wedding expectations are unrealistic at best.
8. Being nice and respectful with your vendors will get you a lot farther than being rude. It’s all about how your phrase it, especially in emails. Remember those can’t always capture what you’re trying to say accurately, so have an objective party read it before sending if necessary.
9. Believe the hype. It will be the BEST DAY EVER! Your friends and family will step up in ways you didn’t think they would. No matter what happens it will be a memorable day."

"Our rep was Catering Manager Gloria Thorpe. She was not the best at communication before the wedding. Email conversations were slow. I do have to say that every time I visited the venue though, the staff in general was always extremely helpful and would go above and beyond with my requests. On the day of the RB Inn delivered. We got a gorgeous suite to get ready in. It had a parlor suite type room attached to a bedroom and two bathrooms, so my hair and makeup stylists were able to set up stations separately and there was still tons of room to hang out and eat as well. The ceremony site was gorgeous. The chairs and everything was set up by noon even though our ceremony wasn’t until 4pm. They stopped the fountain just for the ceremony so there was no noise conflict, and they broke down the chairs right afterward so my guests could enjoy the courtyard during the cocktail hour. The complimentary suite we received for the wedding night was beautiful with a great view of the golf course. Overall the RB Inn was a great venue, and we’re so happy that we chose it."
