CHRISTINA AND ROLLIE'S WEDDING

June, 2009 in Villanova
Pink_ask_a_question

Ceremony: St. Thomas of Villanova
Reception: The Montrose Mansion (at Villanova Conference Center)

Band:

Sound Investment Band

552 Norwyck Dr
King of Prussia, PA, United States

"This band was stellar! They performed at my wedding on June 13th and I was beyond thrilled. They had a great repertoire of songs (they have over 2000 songs - belive me I counted!) and they played every song we requested and we requested quite a few! My dance floor was packed the entire night and the band was one of the first things people complimented us on about the wedding. Both Phil and Michelle have beautiful voices, great energy, and were excellent at getting people out on the dance floor. My group went crazy dancing to "Don't Stop Believing," "Ain't no Mountain High Enough," and "Thriller" to name a few. Michelle even got people singing from the dance floor with "You can't hurry love." The remainder of the instrumentalists were equally talented and fun. Any songs they didn't know, the band easily played recorded versions of. They also learned the instrumentals to Cake "Love You Madly" which I wanted as our entrance song because of how fun it is. The band showed up on time, performed flawlessly, and met all of the promises and agreements that they had made with me. I was so pleased with this band that I would highly recommend them to any bride to be. Please don't hesitate to email me and I will be happy to act as a reference or provide more details!"

Photographer:

David Humphreys Photography

Villanova, PA, USA

"David was an excellent photographer and incredible value for the price. He was professional, prompt, friendly, and responsive. He met with me twice prior to the wedding - once to go over his packages and offerings once to visit the reception site since it was a new site to him. He was also completely flexible with me regarding his packages. He allowed me to make substitutions and change the contract when the economy took a turn for the worst and the wedding budget got a bit stretched. On the wedding day, he handled all of the photography with talent and creative flair and pulled off some really great shots regardless of the obstacles in his way (he even climbed thru a bush to get one particular shot!). Most importantly, David had my photos up on his website within 2 weeks of my wedding (13 days to be exact)! And they are excellent! I am so thrilled that David was part of my wedding and would highly recommend him to other brides to be in the PA-NJ area!"

Wedding Day Beauty Vendor:

Dylan Michael Cosmetics

Villanova, PA, USA

"I loved having Cindy as part of my wedding. She is a very talented cosmetoligist and even offers a free trial to make sure you are pleased with your makeup. I got so many compliments on my appearance not to mention that my bridesmaids and my mom were thrilled with their looks as well. Cindy even managed to impress Jen (my somewhat fastidious MOH), which is no easy feat! She kept me calm during the morning preparations and was very accommodating with our schedule. Cindy was truly a pleasure to work with and I will be happy to recommend her to any brides to be."

Wedding Day Beauty Vendor:

Up Your Do

Villanova, PA, USA

"Jill was simply a wonderful addition to my wedding vendors. Don't be fooled by her beauty and youth, Jill is an amazingly talented and experienced hair stylist. She made my bridesmaids, my mom, my flower girls, and, most importantly, me, look absolutely gorgeous for my wedding. My hair was perhaps the thing that I was most pleased with on my wedding day (even more so than my exquisite custom made dress). Looking at the photos from the wedding, my husband stopped counting the number of times I said, "oh my god, my hair looks so good!" She was equally talented and creative with my bridesmaids and my flower girls' hair. Jill was so enjoyable to work with. She was incredibly sweet, thorough, and funny. She kept me calm when I started getting jittery and kept the mood light and fun during the whole preparation stage. In fact, she did such a stellar job that my day of wedding coordinator actually requested her contact information after the wedding was over so that she could include her as one of her valued vendors. In other words, I highly recommend Jill and think she would make a substantially beautiful impact on your wedding day!"

Ceremony:

St. Thomas of Villanova - Ceremony - 780 Lancaster Ave, Delaware, PA, 19085

St. Thomas of Villanova

800 E Lancaster Ave
Radnor Township, PA 19085, US

"St. Thomas of Villanova on Villanova University's campus is simply an enchanting place to get married. The chapel is overwhelmingly exquisite with its completely white marble interior and gorgeous architecture. Not to mention that the ceremony coordinator, Patty, and the music coordinator, Don, were both incredibly helpful and responsive. Patty provided me with all of the info I could possibly need including a fully outlined ceremony schedule so I could easily put together a ceremony program. Don organized the music and provided a music workshop so that we could choose the music, cantors, and the instruments after hearing them live. Also, because the chapel does more than one wedding a day, they take care of the flowers and decor taking many of the planning details off of your shoulders. The biggest challenge regarding St. Thomas of Villanova is that they are fairly strict about the music you can use and the layout of the ceremony as well as some other details. I think this primarily has to do with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, however. They are flexible when it comes to some elements however including that they allowed me to include extra songs in the ceremony since I opted not to have a mass. If looking for an officiant, Fr. Rob Hagan is amazing! He did such a wonderful ceremony that was insightful, witty, and memorable."

Reception:

The Montrose Mansion (at Villanova Conference Center)

601 County Line Rd
Radnor Township, PA 19087, US

"I think the most important aspects of choosing a reception are location, beauty, ease of planning, and staff. The Montrose Mansion at the Villanova Conference Center gets high marks on all 3. Firstly, the reception site is located near 476 and 76 (two major Pennsylvania routes) and only minutes from several ceremony sites. Because my husband and I had met at our alma mater, Villanova University, we had our wedding at St. Thomas of Villanova. The Conference Center is literally less than 2 miles from campus thereby making the commute easy and short. In regards to the scenery of the location, do not be fooled by the main entrance. While the Villanova Conference Center (the hotel part of the reception site) is not exactly awe-inspiring, once you see the breathtaking mansion as well as the beautiful rolling acres, trees, and pond behind the mansion, you will literally fall head over heels. I was smitten with the reception site from the get go and was even more pleased with the location when I took my photographer there to preview the site before the wedding. He was literally captivated! In fact, he called it one of the most gorgeous locations he's shot on film. The ballroom (recently remodeled) is equally exquisite. One wall is completely floor to ceiling windows allowing you to view the gorgeous walkways, trees, and greenery outside. There is a decent size dance floor, plenty of space for tables (with elbow room!) and a great area for the band or dj to set up. Because of the unique packaging option, the conference center also includes the cake, delicious (and I do mean DELICIOUS) food, open bar, linens of your choice (so you can pick out those that match your color scheme), and numerous other options. This makes planning super easy since you check off a number of your vendors with one contract. On a side note, the cake which was provided by Dough Main Bakery was scrumptious! And beautifully decorated. I was so pleased when I saw it before the wedding and even more delighted when Rollie fed me my first bite. Talk about heavenly! Finally, and this deserves its own paragraph, the staff was simply PHENOMENAL. I cannot tell you how gracious, hospitable, friendly, sweet, accommodating, wonderful, and all together outstanding every member of the staff was. From the women who ran the reception to the house keepers to superman Tim Sweeney (the wedding coordinator who literally takes care of everything even those one off random emails requesting a specialty cocktail or easles), everyone was beyond accommodating. They made my family and guests (about 99% who were from out of state and even as far as Ireland and England) feel completely welcome. They kept telling us how fun of a group we were and we felt the same about them. In fact, Alex, Paul, Tim, and Lisa (waitress extraordinaire who waits on you hand and foot on your big day - and I do mean hand and foot she even ran up to my hotel room and brought me my flip flops so I could shed my wedding heels!) were like family by the end of it all. They truly made you feel like you were the most important person(s) in their world - as you should feel on your wedding day. One of the staff even sewed up my cousin's cocktail dress in the bathroom when her halter strap broke during an intense round of dancing! These people gave 2000% and it shows. If for nothing else, I recommend the Montrose Mansion / Villanova Conference Center based solely on their ridiculously talented, caring, and wonderful staff!"
