Hi,

I am planning on holding my wedding at Old Westbury Gardens in June of 2010. It's a morning ceremony. We plan on having the maximum number of guests--150. I spoke to Kim Di Ciero, who is the wedding coordinator, and I have a few a concerns that I was hoping you had some insight into.

How easy is it to decorate the space? I was a bit shocked when I visted the Garden of Appreciation the first time, because it was so devoid of flowers. I imagined that it would be a veritable oasis of flowers, but instead found nothing. After speaking with Kim, she indicated that people usually use ver little decoration in the space. Was this true for you? I want to decorate the trellis and the isle. Kim has told me that rose petals aren't allowed, so I am thinking about lining the aisles with garlands of hydrangea.

Did you use musicians? We will have a string trio and a guitarist play at the wedding. They need to be set up somewhere in the space, but I can't envision the set up at this time. Where/how were your musicians arranged?

Is it worth it to have your ceremony there? The cost of the ceremony is $3000, compared at $600 at Westbury Manor, where we are having out cocktail hour and reception. For a space that doesn't readily come decorated, and where we can't use rose petals, is it worth it to have the wedding there? The grounds at Old Westbury Gardens are what most attract me to the space--this was before I learned we couldn't have the ceremony any where near the house.
