My fiance and I are thinking about having our wedding ceremony and reception at the International Banquet center/anthenum Hotel. We are concerned with the appearance of the Ballroom since we have to do a "flip" between the ceremony and reception. I was wondering if you could tell me what you thought of the venue and any pro's and cons you may have had. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hi Barbara! We absolutely LOVED everything about the Atheneum. We had our ceremony at a church, so we did not have to do the "flip," but, to be honest, I wouldn't even worry about it. My friend Lauren's little sister had to switch the ballroom from a ceremony site to a reception site and she said the staff at the Atheneum did everything very well. We personally thought the service and the ambiance at the Atheneum were excellent - everything was set up absolutely beautifully, and the staff was willing to work with us on our menu, bar selections, etc. Sophie is absolutely great to work with! We had almost 300 guests, everyone had a great time, and both my husband and I really couldn't have been happier! If you have any other specific questions, please feel free to ask! Betsy

Hi Betsy!
You don't know how much of a relief it is to be able to talk to someone about having our wedding at the Atheneum. My fiance has a lot of concerns about what the ballroom will look like during the ceremony (i.e. like a warehouse because all the tables are set up around the ceremony, etc). Also, we are concerned about where to take pictures since there really isn't any where in the hotel that we could do it at.
If possible, is there any way I could get your sister's friend email. I'd love to get her feedback on how the "flip" went and if she would change anything about the way she did it. Do you know if she draped under the balcony to cover the tables up?
Any other advice would be great. Did you have it catered by the hotel or did you have an outside caterer? Who did you use for flowers?

I'm sorry to bother you with all these questions but it's already so stressful and I haven't even started planning. Mostly because a "flip" sounds like trouble.

Hi Barbara!
Sorry it took me so long to respond - I was out of the country. My friend has not gotten back to me about her sister's email, but I can let you know they highly recommended the Atheneum to me after their wedding, so I am sure it was great!

We used the Atheneum for food - did a chicken, a beef, and a vegetarian - and everything was DELICIOUS. For the the cake, we did white with raspberry and chocolate mousse in alternating layers, and it was fantastic! For flowers, we did Viviano's - ask for Grace - and everything was even more beautiful than I imagined. I hope everything is going well for you - your wedding will be beautiful!
