CRAIG AND KIMBERLY'S TURTLE BEACH WEDDING

September, 2008 in Indian Pass, Florida

"Our wedding was amazing, it was located in Indian Pass, Florida, a very small, quaint little area located between Apalachicola and Port St Joe. Craig and I live in Tallahassee, Indian Pass was about 2 hours from Tallahassee, so it made planning relatively easy. Not to mention we wanted to stay away from the big beach towns like Destin, or Panama City. We stayed at the Turtle Beach Inn with friends and family, had a beach bonfire the night before instead of a traditional rehearsal dinner and our beach wedding was amazing. We figured that since everyone had to travel for the wedding, we might as well give them an excuse to have a weekend beach vacation (our guests were flying in from Pittsburgh, Colorado, California, Peru, and Ft Lauderdale). Everyone enjoyed themselves and the whole weekend was so laid back. Our guests are still talking about it and commenting on how it was the neatest/best wedding they've been to so far. Wedding mapper was a great resource for linking all our guests to the town of Port St Joe. When anyone had a question, I just sent them the link to the wedding map I had made and it pretty much answered all directional/hotel questions. It was great!"

Band:

Mike Lanigan

Indian Pass, Florida, US

"We found Mike in Barnacle Bill's Tallahassee. He played classic rock and Jimmy Buffet covers, he had that great "relaxing on the beach in the keyes" feel. After hearing him play a couple times around town, we asked him if he would play our wedding and if he was willing to travel. Mike and his wife played as a duet for our wedding and were extremely affordable, even with their travel fees (which was nothing compared to other bands). We loved them so much, Mike ended up pretty much being the emcee for our wedding (he had much more experience then we did at this kind of thing)! People could put in song requests and he got our families/guests involved, it was a great time and I'm still getting great reviews on how much fun everyone was and how great the music was!"

Cakes/Candies Vendor:

Rhonda Tull

Indian Pass, Florida, United States

"Rhonda was so nice, I spoke with her then emailed her some pictures of what I was looking for. Her cakes were delicious, especially the chocolate, and our wedding cake looked so good! Plus, from what I have read her prices were the lowest around, and she delivered. For both cakes (feeding 70 people) we payed 175 total with the delivery fee. We were originally only going to have 1 cake, but 2 weeks before the wedding, since we were getting married on Craig's grammy's birthday, we decided to have a surprise birthday cake for her. I had Rhonda make it chocolate, since that was her favorite, and decorated it with a squirrel (inside joke), Grammy was so touched, she started crying when we all sang happy birthday to her."

Decorations Vendor:

Panache

230 Reid Ave
Port St Joe, FL, United States

"Panache was really helpful with planning our wedding. We had them take care of all our decorations; (minus the table settings), chairs, linens, dishware, ceremony chairs, tables, silverware, etc. It was great to have a company to work with that did basically everything and I didn't have to worry. The only complaint I have is that when we originally met with them and setup our contract we met and had been working with Elizabeth, we worked with her for a while, emailing back and forth the details, and then suddenly I started receiving emails from someone else, this was okay but some of the communication was a little messed up and we had some snafus with our linens, which they ended up taking care of a few days before the wedding, so everything turned out fine for our big day."

Photographer:

Mika Fowler

Indian Pass, Florida, United States

"Mika traveled from Tallahassee to work with taking pictures for us. He was easy to work with and understood what we were looking for. My husband was not interested in taking the 'artsy' shots or posed pictures, and Mika understood we basically wanted all the candids. He worked his prices to make a special package for what we were looking for, and gave us all the copyrights to our images, which I found a lot of photographers dont. We were really happy with his pictures and his work, he took over 1200 pictures and his turn around time for getting me the cds was about 10 days."

Wedding Day Beauty Vendor:

Lorena Even On Site Bridal Hair & Makeup - Wedding Day Beauty Vendor - Tallahassee, FL, 32309, US

Lorena Even

"I loved Lorena, she was so helpful, she did my wedding hair and makeup, and she traveled from Tallahassee to work with me. She really listened to what I was interested in and my style for my beach wedding. Her prices were reasonable and she was really prepared to work with me and my bridal party, plus she was so so nice and fun to chat with during my hair trial and on my special day. It was nice that she traveled and worked with us all in the beach house we were staying at. Much better than going to a salon."

Ceremony:

Turtle Beach Inn - Ceremony - 140 Painted Pony Rd, Port St Joe, FL, United States

Turtle Beach Inn

140 Painted Pony Rd
Port St Joe, FL, United States

"What can I say about Turtle Beach? Our stay was amazing, Trish and Stephanie were so helpful through the whole process, they thought of things we hadn't thought of and had contacts for everyone, even last minute things. We had the ceremony on the beach right outside the bed and breakfast, and the reception was located under the bed and breakfast, there was plenty of room for all our wedding guests (65), and they even hosted a bonfire for us the night before. I would recommend Turtle Beach to anyone and everyone. The beach was pretty much private, we had guests and friends flying in from Ft Lauderdale, Colorado, California, and Pittsburgh, almost all our guests rented out the 4 rooms at the Inn, the 3 rental properties associated with the inn (turtle tower upstairs, turtle tower downstairs, and the sand dollar), and the two rental houses (one slept 5, the other slept 12). Our other guests stayed in nearby hotels (which were all about 15 minutes away). The entire weekend was like a private beach party and we had all of turtle beach to ourselves, like a beach compound. The feel was really laid back and fun. My husband and I are planning on spending the weekend there next year for our 1 year anniversary. Thanks so much Turtle Beach!"

Restaurant:

Amanda's Bistro

2904 Highway 98 # A 3
Mexico Beach, FL, United States

"Amanda was amazing! The food was delicious and I keep hearing our guests saying how great her Jamaican Jerk Shrimp was! We had dinner buffet style, and Amanda took care of everything. She setup a tasting for us a couple months before free of cost and we knew right then we were getting the perfect treatment. Her and her mother were so nice and accomodating, and Amanda always got back to me within a couple hours of me emailing or calling her. She even went and checked out our location and contacted our other vendors to make sure everything was okay and we were all on the same page, if it wasn't for her, our linens would have probably fallen through with the company we had hired for our table/decor."

Attraction:

Downtown Tallahassee

"Unlike most cities, Downtown Tallahassee is small, and quaint, several restaraunts and museums, as well as the old (and new) capitol building are all located just a 5 minute walk from Craig and Kimberly's house. If you're going to eat downtown, we suggest PO Boys or Harry's for good seafood, and Jasmines if you're in the mood for sushi."

Cruise Company:

Sunset Dream Weddings

312 Willow Way
Lynn Haven, Florida 32444, United States

"We worked with Rika at Sunset Dream Weddings. They provided an officiant, photographer (which we opted out of since we already had one), beach wedding decorations (we got the now and forever package), bouquets, and an entire personalized ceremony (which included a unity sand ceremony, blessing stones, a native american blessing, and an exchange of shell leis, all of which Sunset Dream Weddings provided). She was easy to talk to through email or phone, and everything turned out great. I loved our wedding decorations and the heart in the sand, plus they travel anywhere between Panama City and St George Island!"
