KATEY AND CRAIG'S WEDDING

April, 2010 in Stonington

"Our wedding really was perfect. We lucked out with the weather and because it was off-season we got some great prices. There is lots to do in the area and a lot of our guests even stayed longer and made it a trip."

Ceremony: Saltwater Farm Vineyard
Reception: Saltwater Farm Vineyard

Band:

Groove Authority

Cambridge, MA, USA

"This is a Boston band that we hired for the cocktail hour and reception but they traveled down to CT for no charge. They were great: everyone was dancing, everything was on schedule, great songs, etc. I really can't say anything bad about them."

Band:

La Bella Musica

Stonington, CT, USA

"Hired a string duo to play the ceremony. They were very professional, sounded great outdoors, and even played well with someone singing (without a rehearsal)."

Caterer:

Gourmet Galley

514 Mohegan Avenue Pkwy
Quaker Hill, CT, United States

"Somewhat pricey but worth it. The staff members were incredible and everyone loved the food. They did everything we asked and made the whole planning process a lot of fun. Having a great caterer is more important that I realized - a good point person practically runs the whole reception behind the scene and can keep everything running smoothly."

Limo Company:

Groton School District Bus

Stonington, CT, USA

"We went the inexpensive route and hired school buses for wedding transportation. Not the classiest thing but it has a certain charm. It was cheap, easy, and the buses were clean and nice; however, the bus driver left each stop too early and didn't return so some guests were left stranded. On the other hand, they put up with a lot of drunk people who I'm sure were annoying at the end of the night and didn't complain a bit."

Ceremony:

Saltwater Farm Vineyard

349 Elm St
Stonington, CT 06378

"This place is not cheap but it is beautiful. We had the ceremony outside and the backdrop looked perfect."

Reception:

Saltwater Farm Vineyard

349 Elm St
Stonington, CT 06378

"Again, not cheap but it's such a cool space. The owners were very friendly, they have a great bridal suite, room for dancing, a second floor, they let us bring our own alcohol that we chose - it was perfect for us."

Hotel:

Hilton Mystic

20 Coogan Boulevard
Mystic, CT, United States

"I wanted to give zero stars but I gave one because they're one of the few places with a bar on site. They were overpriced (they actually charged more for guests using our wedding "discount" than on the website), they were incredibly rude, they said I could check into the room early (3pm) and then wouldn't let me (then lied and said they never said that). Also, they were rude to us and our guests and they didn't give most people the "out of towner" bags. They had several weddings going on and clearly didn't care about ours. The arrogance of this place is not worth it - the rooms aren't that nice."

Hotel:

Holiday Inn Express-Mystic

6 Coogan Boulevard
Mystic, CT, United States

"Decent hotel, fair price, but again we had trouble with the hotel staff giving out the out of towner bags. Also we explained the shuttle information had several guests were waiting for the shuttle that had left early and no one thought to tell them that the shuttle left."

Hotel:

Ramada Mystic (Formerly Best Western)

9 Whitehall Avenue
Mystic, CT, United States

"Not the nicest place but a great price and the staff were really friendly and attentive."

Entertainment:

Foxwoods Resort & Casino

PO Box 3777, 350 Trolley Line Blvd
Mashantucket, CT, United States

"Foxwoods is the largest casino in the world and also has the largest bingo floor in the world!"

Entertainment:

Mohegan Sun Casino

1 Mohegan Sun Boulevard
Uncasville, CT, United States

"Mohegan Sun has great restaurants and bars as well as the casino. If you're lucky you can see the WNBA playing here..."

Rehearsal Dinner Venue:

Mystic Pizza

Stonington, CT, United States

"We wanted an fun, informal rehearsal dinner. We were able to rent the second floor for free since it was off-season and we took over the whole space. Food was great but simple and the price can't be beat."
