CRISTINA AND JAHID'S WEDDING

March, 2012 in San Juan

"We did not want a typical destination wedding, and felt like we truly achieved the most special event possible. We threw a 3 day event for 100 people and had the most amazing time in Puerto Rico. From welcome drinks in Old San Juan, to a rehearsal party for all of our guests at La Concha to our amazing wedding at Hacienda Siesta Alegre, everything exceeded our expecations. We whole heartedly recommend all of our vendors (especially our coordinator who helped keep everything flowing) and are happy to provide more information to any other brides starting their PR wedding search."

Band:

Extasis

Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

"We brought down 100 people from New York and scattered around the US to Puerto Rico for our destination wedding on March 10. We were VERY picky about what we were looking for in a band. None of our guests speak spanish, and they are all used to hearing a very high caliber of bands from other weddings in the New York area. We were looking for a band that could play Top 40s Pop Songs with a mix of 80s hits and some salsa to get that latin flavor. However, we kept running into other options in Puerto Rico that only seemed to specialize in Disco or solely spanish songs. We were concerned that using a DJ might be our only option until we came across Extasis. Wiso, the band's manager, was very quick with responses and even allowed us to come watch them at a wedding the performed at when they were in New York at the Plaza Hotel so we could hear them in person before we committed to them. They worked with us on the setlist and even learned some special requests. They were FANTASTIC, high energy & kept our guests dancing all night long. Highly Recommended."

Cakes/Candies Vendor:

Little Cupcake Shop

30 Prince Street
New York, NY, United States

"We used Little Cupcake Shop to provide our wedding cake and cannot recommend them enough to all future PR brides. Coming from NYC, which is well known for cupcake shops like Crumbs & Magnolia, we consider ourselves pretty savvy when it comes to knowing a good cupcake, & the variety & taste of Little Cupcake Shop far exceeds the competitors. We had 6 different flavors & also had them create a smaller 6" carrot cake for us to cut (do not underestimate carrot as an amazing wedding cake flavor!). Everything was so moist, icing is top notch, and the cupcakes were one of the things we were most complimented on from the wedding. Besides just the flavor, they did a great job with the set up and decoration of our cake table, using special wrappers & sprinkles to make everything look cohesive. We can't wait to go visit PR again and get some more cupcakes from Little Cupcake Shop!"

Caterer:

Chef Marisoll

San Juan, PR, Puerto Rico

"We found Chef Marisoll through our venue and could not have been happier with the service and above all, the FOOD! When we were planning our wedding, we placed a lot of emphasis on the food, especially doing a destination wedding, we wanted to make sure that we received the same, if not better, quality than we would have gotten at home in NYC. We were a difficult client, pushing Chef Marisoll to do a family style dinner which she does not typically do, and custom creating our menu from scratch (with MANY revisions). Chef Marisoll was always quick to respond, provided helpful suggestions, and was positive & friendly at every turn. And boy did she deliver! The food at our wedding was top notch - a live paella station, beef tenderloin, empanadas, and much more. We had a mix of american favorites with a latin twist. Our guests were raving about everything, including the presentation & service from the waitstaff who were very attentive throughout the evening. We are more than happy to share our exact menu with any couples because there is not a single thing we would do differently. We even had late night sliders (which were a huge hit) and Chef Marisoll went above and beyond with the presentation to put them in adorable NY times newspaper print wrappers as a throwback to our home town. It's those little touches that really make the difference when you are spending so much money and time on one evening. Make sure you request lamb chops!"

Ceremony Musician:

Entertainment Concepts -- Mosaiko Spanish Guitarists

San Juan, PR, Puerto Rico

"Thank you Myrna at Entertainment Concepts for providing us with Mosaiko! They were a Spanish Guitar Duo that we used both for our ceremony & cocktail hour. They are amazing musicians who truly delivered on our old world spanish theme with the ability to play a variety of traditional ceremony songs (like the wedding march) and then turn it up with more flamenco style music for the cocktail hour. I cannot say enough great things about Mosaiko in particular & the beautiful music they provided. Myrna was also very helpful with providing me with lots of options as we went back and forth with different vendors as we were making our final decisions. Entertainment Concepts represent many great musicians & entertainers and were very professional from start to finish."

Coordinator:

Ana Cintron Events

San Juan, PR, Puerto Rico

"Ana was an amazing asset for our wedding in Puerto Rico. She was in charge of both our partial wedding coordination and all of our decor. Planning a destination wedding is not easy, and we really loved that Ana works in both NYC, Miami & PR, since, being New Yorkers, she was able to understand and respond to the fast pace & details we are accostumed to as apposed to some other vendors that worked more on "island time." We were very demanding clients who are very hands on, even though it was a destination wedding, we wanted to be very involved in all aspects, including many DIY & personal touches. Ana has a great design asthetic and was able to take our vision and amplify it to be more than we could have imagined. She had great suggestions and also helped us find other vendors, such as my beautician & our cupcakes who I was also very happy with. I would highly advise to any other brides to hire the same vendor for coordination & decor. It made the whole process much more seamless, and I feel like Ana was able to do such an amazing job because she knew so much about us, our overall vision & plan for the whole wedding so that it all felt cohesive and went with our theme. Thank you so much for everything!!"

DJ:

Fabian Kroselj

San Juan, PR 00926, usa
787-475-4022

"Fabian did an amazing job DJ'ing our wedding on March 10. We decided we wanted both a band and a DJ because we wanted to create a true party atmosphere. Fabian also provided the sound equiptment for our ceremony to mic our officiant. He was so flexible, friendly, and quick to respond to all emails. He was able to work with our band to seamlessly transition between breaks. We were also very particular with what songs we wanted to play and he played every single song we requested, really responding to the crowd and picking the best songs to keep the party going. He also played the most amazing setlist during our dinner that was appropriate for a dinner, but not sleepy boring elevator music, instead we were singling along to Sweet Caroline while eating our steak and it just made for the most amazing atmosphere. Fabian- I'd highly recommend the setlist you created for us to be used in other weddings you DJ of couples from the States. He was also the best price we found. Thank you so much for everything!"

Wedding Day Beauty Vendor:

Miranda Salon-- Mia

San Juan, PR, Puerto Rico

"Mia did a fantastic job on hair & makeup for myself & my whole wedding party. While it definitely didn't come cheap, they were very accomodating, even having Mia come to the Condado location instead of her usual spot in Guayabo to specially work on me and my girls. The Condado location is trendy, open, and VERY close to La Concha for any brides staying there. We had a whole team of stylists working on our large party. They respond very well to inspriation photos, although a few of my maids felt that they had too much makeup on so be mindful of that so everyone is comfortable."

Ceremony:

Hacienda Siesta Alegre

Carr 186 km 23.4
Rio Grande, PR, Puerto Rico

"This place is an absolute hidden gem. As soon as you visit the venue you will realize that a magical place it truly is, a place you and your guests will never forget. We had around 100 of our nearest and dearest travel from New York to Puerto Rico for our destination wedding. We were VERY picky with all aspects of our wedding, we always knew we wanted a destination wedding, but finding the perfect location & venue took a lot of searching. We settled on Puerto Rico because of it's ease of travel from the east coast, and we really loved the old-world spanish culture. We were convinced we were going to have the wedding at El Convento in Old San Juan. But then, by chance, I had found HSA on tripadvisor and was curious as I explored their website. It's about 45 mins outside of San Juan, and at first we weren't sure if that would really work for us since we would have to transport so many guests, but as soon as we set foot on the property we were in awe. It is 100% worth it to rent some buses and spend your wedding at HSA. The house is so unique & beautiful, its hard to even describe in words. I cannot tell you how many of my guests have asked me how I ever found this place. We brought in our own outside coordinator who also handled the decor which worked out great. While at times communication with HSA was a bit of a struggle, in the end everything came together perfectly. I highly recommend to all brides to please not have a typical hotel conference room wedding. Try something different, something memorable, check out HSA. You'll save on your flower costs, get some amazing pictures, and your guests will never forget it"

Hotel:

La Concha Renaissance San Juan Resort - Hotel - 1077 Ave Dr Ashford, San Juan, Puerto Rico

La Concha A Renaissance Resort San Juan

1077 Ave Dr Ashford
San Juan,, Puerto Rico

"La Concha was a perfect venue for our guests, its beautiful, modern, and in the middle of everything, so your guests will have the freedom to go offsite for food, which is always a plus. It's also just a few blocks from a 24 hour Walgreens = very key for any last min forgotten items (or beer/liquor!). In terms of hosting our wedding, the staff was great. They worked with us on the group rate & all of our guests received ocean view rooms. We also hosted our Friday Night rehearsal/welcome party there and the food was outstanding! Make sure to ask for Jessica Rivera - she's the friendliest woman you'll ever meet and very helpful in planning special events. Definitely the best hotel in San Juan for hosting a large party."
