GATINEAU WEDDING IN NOVEMBERNovember, 2010 in Gatineau
"Our wedding was the second for both of us. We were over that "expensive dress" and the "all about us" phase. This was intended to be an intimate weekend event with friends and family totalling 100. We had a Friday night supper for early-arriving guests (30 people). We did not have a sit-down supper for our wedding as our wedding ceremony took place at 8:00 pm. Our cacktail hour immediately followed, then some short speeches and a music jam for our entertainment (yes, we were our own entertainment) and a late buffet of hot hors d'oeuvres at 11 pm. We closed it off with a Sunday brunch for all of our guests - one last meeting before they all headed home. (Most of our guests stayed in the hotel). Our wedding was about bringing family and friends together is something meaningful and memorable."

"Absolutely a great entertainer and extremely easy to work with. We hired Luc to host a music jam since many of our guests played music themselves. We had even more singers. It was an OUTSTANDING night and Luc was key to this. He learned all of the songs we asked (about 7of them) that he didn't know already. He is a real "details" guy and you will not be disappointed in bringing Luc to your event. A real professional."
"Outstanding design for us - 3-tiered cake with white fondant draped down the cake and one dozen orange roses. The actual cake itself was red velvet cake with Bavarian creme. Not only was it beautiful - it was delicious. Denis and his crew of designers were professional."

"We bought 150 etched wine glasses for our guests. Scotty McLaren was outstanding in working with us. And the order was done in under a week. Outstanding service. Top-notch company and the best prices we could find in Canada - and we looked."
"The truth is, Ray's Flowers has been around our whole lives. They were in business when we were both growing up in Renfrew and so using them for our wedding (at age 50) was a no-brainer. We kept the flower order pretty simple: a bride's bouquet of roses, 2 smaller bouquets for attendants, mother's corsage, groom and grooms-men boutiniers and then 17 bunches of fresh yellow tulips (in November) imported from Holland - arranged in vases we provided. As always, Ray's Flowers did not disappoint. Very easy to work with and professional. (We picked up flowers on morning of the wedding and drove them from Renfrew to Ottawa). We will continue to use Ray's forever."

"We did not use the ballroom at this hotel as it was being used for another wedding that night. We used the lesser known Chateauneuf room which, we believe, was far superior for intimate gatherings. Ornate wood walls, fireplace and candlestick wall sconces added to the intimacy of the event. There is a lounge just outside the door which allowed us to serve our late-night buffet without disturbing the tables. Nicole Ouellette and Salim Geagea, our banquet reps, were very professional and accomodating. They work hard for their clients - they did for us staying until the wee hours to ensure nothing was left to chance. Sure, the hotel is a little dated but it is clean, and no one in a year from now will remember the decor but will remember the experience. We also hosted a Sunday Brunch for all of our guests as the last chance to see everyone before heading home. This was probably the smartest part of the weekend."

"We had originally planned our wedding for this hotel and after we signed the contract, the sales rep (our 3rd in 6 months) decided to alter the terms of the contract and attempted to institute minimum surcharges per person for wedding meal - amounting to 150% more - far more than we had ever planned for. Being only 6 weeks away from the wedding we walked away from our deposit and moved to the Holiday Inn Plaza La Chaudiere. Our rep's direct boss along with the hotel manager, who were unaware of the dealings with us, apologized and refunded our $1000 non-refundable deposit as an apology."
