CHRISTOPHER AND LINDSAY'S WEDDING

October, 2010 in Stevensville

"We had a beautiful wedding on the Chesapeake Bay on the only beautiful day in two weeks. It was so wonderful to share it with our fmaily and friends and I look forward to seeing all the amazing pictures."

Reception: Caroline's Cakes

Cakes/Candies Vendor:

Candy Kitchen

Stevensville, MD, USA

"So if you ignore the fact that Candy Kitchen was our first date, that we have been back every year for their delicious candy, and that we went there on our honeymoon (unfortunately, the one we had our first date at was closed on Monday) the favors were one of the nicest touches. At only $2 a favor, we were amazed at getting four total seashells, one white and one milk chocolate, in an elegant white box with the bow matched perfectly to a grainy picture. They mailed them in two days a state away and they were perfect, exactly what we hoped for. And they were so delicious; people were stealing each others (we are guilty of it too). Thank you Candy Kitchen, we love you!"

Florist:

Coleman's Flowers

Stevensville, MD, USA

"Coleman’s is a local florist who went through a great effort to make sure we had our flowers because we just couldn’t find a good price range or someone who made us feel comfortable in Annapolis or Stevensville. They were quick, easy, and affordable. With only one trip to meet with a planner, they solved our little problems with having a low amount of flowers at the wedding and transporting it so far. The only negative was that one of the bridesmaid bouquets started having flowers die the night before. It might have been bruising, but it wasn’t pretty. Thankfully, we fixed it. Other than that, everything was great and original."

"Ahh…the Hampton Inn was gorgeous and well staffed. Almost everyone was friendly (the overnight guy was a little rude about me leaving my wallet in the EMPTY atrium for a minute at 2 a.m.) and the woman who kept the breakfast bar stocked (which was delicious) tried to make the waffles for us both mornings! She was extremely sweet. The place was clean, modern, exceeded expectations. They even let us set up our easel in the entryway while handing out direction cards to our guests. Sure, our pre-wedding party the night before got a little loud (you were right to tell us to quiet down), but I would recommend this place."

Reception Venue:

Caroline's Cakes

1580 Whitehall Road
Annapolis, MD, United States

"So we were wary of Caroline’s Cakes because first we missed them, and then the shop was a tiny shop in a mall. However, after tasting the cakes and going through the planning process with Chris Timko we were ecstatic at the prospects of what we were doing. We provided shells, ribbon and the idea of what we wanted and they surpassed it. Small drawbacks included small imperfections on the cake (we are the only one’s who noticed), and we weren’t really assured after looking through there photo book of cakes. The tasting was also a little hastily done. We had a hard time deciding on a topper, and ended up just leaving it in their hands. It was perfect, a picture of elegance and the best part was that everyone could not stop raving over how good it tasted. Not only that, but the price was really good compared to what we found in the surrounding areas. Our only disappointment, we never got to meet Caroline or try any of her famous cakes…hope we make it back to Annapolis soon to try the Caramel or the Coconut. Mmmm…"

Reception Venue:

MusicMasters, LLC - Maryland's DJ Authority

Fallsbrook Rd
Lutherville-Timonium, MD, United States

"They were less than what we expected for the price. The problems started with the owners not really contacting us until a week and a half before our event to tell us our information wasn’t done. We asked for help choosing songs for the ceremony (which they didn’t, just directed us to their list) and when we finished the DJ talked to me on the phone for all of five minutes. Our DJ showed up with a less than impressive table of wires and tangled mess that seemed poorly placed. Our DJ was Wayne Green, who was a very nice guy and was an eloquent speaker, but he wasn't impressive enough to be the Master of Ceremonies. We thought we wanted someone quieter and reserved for such an elegant event, but he ended up being underwhelming and couldn’t keep the guests where they were needed for the events. He started playing the bride’s processional for the seating of the grandmothers, and if it weren’t for the groom noticing, there would have been no song for her entrance (tacky that it was played twice). He was kneeled outside in the grass cuing the ceremony music off a CD we made ourselves, very unprofessional. Even though we asked for no cheesy music or line dances (and were assured that wasn’t up his alley) it was “All the Single Ladies” for the bouquet toss, cheesy porno music for the introductions, and three or four group dances (Didn’t we say no cheesy music? what do you call the Cupid Shuffle?!) Worst part was that we paid an extra $100 for ceremony speakers and because their microphone choices were wireless or mike-on-a-stand, we went wireless only to realize they didn’t have wind buffers for the ceremony the day of. Bad enough we didn’t have three like we wanted, the one we had was useless without a wind buffer (just the foam piece). I would recommend these guys for low-end weddings or sweet sixteen parties. However, if you are going for elegance please look elsewhere."

Reception Venue:

Roman Grinev Photography - Baltimore Office

519 North Charles St
Baltimore MD, MD, United States

"As you can imagine with a photographer, we were very hesitant to dish out so much money! But from the moment I spoke to Roman I was utterly at ease that it was worth it. After speaking with him, he took almost an hour to explain to me why paying so much was worth it and even though we haven’t seen the pictures we have no doubts. The best part was our photographer, Thomas Wakefield. Roman recommended Thomas to us, and after looking through all five of his company’s photographers we could see why. Thomas was everyone we wanted him to be without us needing to ask. Unlike our DJ, five minutes was all we needed to speak with him and we were so at ease despite our reservations. He showed up an hour and a half early (free of charge) to stake the place out since it was first time at this venue and knew everything and everywhere he wanted to shoot. We were worried because the beach was in bad shape but he had us out on the rocks doing some of the best pictures we had ever seen. He was fun and friendly and we both loved having him around, a welcome break from the family at times. Best part was during dinner, he came and asked for our rings (uh…what?!) which we grudgingly obliged only to have him return with a picture of our rings on the favors in front of the starfish…it was just gorgeous to say the least. I would recommend these guys over anyone and everyone! Price was better, staff was nicer, and the pictures are sure to be breathtaking. He even helped with bustling (or something) the wedding dress which NOONE else knew how to do. Thanks Roman and a million thanks to Thomas."
