ST. LOUIS WEDDING IN JULY

July, 2012 in St Louis

"July ended up being a really hot month to have a wedding, but everything ended up beautiful despite the weather! I planned from long distance and St. Louis is my husband's home town so the wedding mapper was a great help in figuring out how far apart everything would be and how guests would need to travel."

"Loria was amazing to work with. She has reasonable priced packages and was with us all day. She captured all the big moments as well as some wonderfully candids of our friends and family. Her style has a classic appeal yet is fresh and inventive. I can't say enough about her photo editing ability which is what really takes photos that would be great and makes them wonderful. The fact that she puts up a photo preview just a week after most weddings with one shot the day after is just the icing on the cake for a wonderful experience. I cannot say enough good things about her talent!"

"This is a gorgeous historic Catholic church. It is not a parish and you are encouraged to arrange for a priest you know to perform the marriage ceremony. They have wedding planners who are onsite the day of the wedding and help make sure everything runs smoothly. The church is air conditioned but can still be quite hot in the summer (we had record heat for our July wedding and were quite hot under the bright lights although our guests told us it was better in the pews). I had a little trouble getting details straightened out when planning from a distance and had a horrible time getting in touch with the music coordinator (also our cantor). But the day of everything ran very smoothly."

"I coordinated with Marissa and she was wonderful about quickly answering any questions by e-mail, which was a great help when I was planning from long distance. We rented the New Wing, and had a cocktail hour downstairs in the star-spangled center and dinner and dancing on the main floor. We ended up with 125 guests with 14 round tables and we had plenty of room. We also had lots of kids at our wedding (around 20 I believe) and they loved being able to play in the Magic House (many of the adults did too!). When I first told people we were having our wedding reception at a children's museum they thought I was crazy, but after seeing it all come together we got so many compliments on picking such a unique location. The only drawback about this venue is that the museum does not close to the public until 5:30pm so there is a very quick turn around time for set up and the very earliest guests can arrive is 6pm. However, everything went very smoothly and was on time. There is also no smoking even outside on the porch. This ended up being an non-issue for us as the only smokers in our families ended up not being able to make it. A previous reviewer also mentioned the fact that the lights are either off or on. We didn't think about this in advance but fortunately our DJ package came with lighting so we ended up with the lights over the dance floor being off and with the DJ lighting it was perfect. So this may be something to think about. Also despite there being lots to do and see at the Magic House there were still guests on the dance floor all night. I had a blast and I think all our guests did too, and I would definitely recommend the Magic House to other brides especially if they have a family with a lot of kids!"

"This worked out great as a location for all our out of town guests to stay. We were able to block off rooms that were reserved for our party up until 1 month before our wedding date. The front guest was willing to hand out bags and folders to all our wedding guests. We also enjoyed the 5:30 kickback with free food and drinks."
